Gonzo, I just registered in the stock appaering forums (waiting for the approval or somthing) Anyway I have one question that I was unable to find looking through the site maybe you can help me out.

Q: 1967 The skylark came with 3 V8 options(300, 340,400 CID). The car I own is a 300CID 2BBL car. Can I use a 400CID, which was another optional engine, all stock of course (to the rules/guidlines set in FAST class) and be able to race the car in FAST - Do I need a Fisher body tag showing the car was a 400? Which can be made up.

Or in otherwords - Do I have to run the factory engine that came in the car or can I run the higest possible engine available, the best option tranny, rear etc. etc. that were available for that model year even though it might not have came with the car I am racing.

I hope I didn't confuse the crap out of this -- Thanks :TU:

You should be able to run the largest engine available, as long as it was available for that model. Drop a line to Gessler, that will get you moving!!!:3gears:

In F.A.S.T. I think a 538 fits the rules. No need to stay with a "puny" 400.

RIGHT FROM THE RULE BOOK - F.A.S.T. racing is for 1955 to 1974 muscle cars built in United States and Canadian assembly plants. Factory lightweight cars built for sanctioned drag racing and dealership built/modified cars are not eligible to participate. Cars must have been originally equipped with a minimum of four-barrel carburetion, dual exhaust, and other factory installed equipment that promotes a high performance image.
NOTE: Throughout this rules document, all references to correct* acknowledge that it is proper for the year, make, model and horsepower claimed, for both the car and engine claimed. The car year, make, model, body style and engine combination must all have been produced and available to the general public in the year claimed, in an actual car.

So as I previously asked (which for some reason my brain just ain't getting) as long as in 1967 GM(Buick) produced Skylarks (GS) with a 400 CID block and a Turbo 400S/P tranny (which they did) I can use that combo (clone), even though the car I am building came with a 300 2BBL??? Or would I have to find an authentic GS? (Which ain't gonna happen now) :Do No:

You can run the largest engine that was an option in your car. At the Stock Appearing Drags at Englishtown, NJ June 14th or any date

The FAST class would have the same rules. We run a different race format then them, but rules are very similar.

    Kewl -

Can I run the 67 Skylark in MCE class with a Nailhead (they stopped nails in 66), it is what I plan to put in the car? It also has a chevy 8.2 10bolt now.

I know my Riviera will only be in MCE because of Tom Telesco's roller rockers and Edelbrock carbs. This is the car I will be there with on June 14.

    Thanks Gonzo:TU:

For those that noticed Gonzo's "rule changes", if you want to wait a week and go to the Martin race on June 20/21, there will be a Factory Stock AND a FAST class, both with quick 8 and the rest will all be 2 outta 3 shootouts. NO BRACKET RACING like the new rules out east.
    Come and join us!

Pete's right no chance of you having the same car as somebody claiming to be stock and then they run in the 11's and you get beat :Do No:

A guy like Pete would have to out-drive you to win.:3gears:

I am getting a hint of sarcasm out there. I guess punching a 455 to 500+ cubes is stock?:Brow:
I just want to get the Riviera down the track in under 15 seconds right now. 14.0 is the ultimate goal for a 4300+/- lbs. car.

The other project (67 Skylark) won't be ready for another 2 years- that one I will work on getting into the mid 12's:3gears: I just haven't raced since I'm 19 (38 now) so I am pretty psyched just to get back out at a track to smoke some tires and cut some lights!:3gears:

so what kind of class would my 90 supra with a 455 fit in? I have never really raced at a track with all the rules and everything.....

Cool Yakster, 14.0 and 4300lbs sounds like a very do-able goal. Love those Riviera's

We had one down in at the Gainsville Florida event with the same setup as yours, and he went low 14's I think
