chris roesch Say what again, i dare u

I have a line on an 88 firebird for cheap. it has a 5 speed and I was entertaining the idea of putting it behind the 350.

anyone do something like this to a A-body with 350? any issues with this setup?

Depending on how you use the car, you will break the 5 spd pretty quick....

If you are thinking of bolting it to a buick 350, forget it, the torque will destroy it.

I "THINK" the 5 speed is angled/ off-set, so it wouldn't bolt up to the BOP bellhousing, anyhow.

GM only put this transmission behind the 305 and never the 350.

It was also installed canted 20 degrees or so, I am not sure how this would effect the positioning of the top loader style shifter in the car.

the 20% tilt is in the bell housing mount, not the trans....it will live for a while behind a 350 just cant power shift or dump the clutch at 5 grand, my buddy had one behind a 70 Skylark 350 4bbl for 15 years and never broke....

they make transmission adapters, I posted a link and pic in the "juicebox" section of the forum in a "4L80E" post.... but I don't recommend a T5 to anyone. They can barely handle a ford 302, let alone a SBB. Shift fork will break or bend ALL THE TIME... and any hard shifts will result in a catastrophic failure. do a TKO or T56 swap.
