I've been taking my '65 out to my local 1/8th mile track (Barona Drag strip) and have run consistent 6.10. Saturday night they had a nostalgia race, so finally could go out and race when it was under 90 degrees. I had to get in the 5's so I rejetted and flowed the nitrous system and went for it! First pass I was alittle concerned, and hoped for everything to work out, I launched, but the car spun bad, then hooked, then spun again after I shifted to 2nd., I got the time slip and Damn it, I ran a 6.03 @116mph, and even spinning I had a 1.38 60 ft.. I had many come to check out the car in the pits after that pass, all expecting to see Chevy power, but were very surprised to see Buick power!! None of them expected it to run as fast, and leave as hard as it did, pulling the wheels about 3 feet up and carrying it out for a good ways. Next pass I thought for sure I'd get that 5, but the knucklehead pulling the cars into the waterbox pulled me past the water by about 6 feet, and the burn out wasn't happening, he's getting pissed that I'm trying to re-back into the water pointing for me to stage, then some other guy comes out a directs me into the water and finally did a burn out, pulled into the beams, launched, hooked, pulled a nice wheelie, but bogged and pulled to the wall, so I got out of it, the crowd loved the wheelie, the 60 ft. was a 1.40.. There was alot of cars so after a pretty long wait in the staging lanes, and almost midnight, this was going to be my last shot for the night. Pulled in, did a nice burn out, staged, launched hard, fought the car to keep it in the groove, I got the time slip and there it was!!! The 60 ft. was the best yet, 1.34, the ET was 5.98 @114mph, and my friend said I spun on that pass too. I was DAMN HAPPY!!!!!!!! I know the track photographer got some nice wheelie shots of my car, I'll post them if I can. Next I'm off to do Pinks All Out in Northern California, Sept. 18th. It was great, the crowed really underestimated my Buick, the car ran great, and trouble free..

That would be a 9.45 ET at 140 MPH in the 1/4.
    WOW !
What kind of rear suspension setup are you using?

I figured a 9.20 in the quarter. Car already has gone 9.53 @ 143 mph with alittle less nitrous. Rear suspension is a Ford 9 inch, Strange dbl. adj shocks, HR parts N stuff anti roll bar, their dbl. adj. upper control arms with their spherical bearings, Wolfecraft dbl. adj. lower control arms, and basically stock rear springs. Pretty sure that's it.

Congrats Gary. That 1.40 60' could have been with the back wheels if it was a long wheelie. it's happened to me before. that 114-116 1/8 mile speed tells me the car has low 5.90's -5.80's in it.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm going to post a few pics., I don't think it was 60 ft.ing with the rear tires, just hooking very good, and the wheelies are smaller than I thought, but that's OK..... I'm glad it was a night race, nice and cool, but day pics. i could get a better view of the suspension to see if I need to do some "tweaking". The pics. are kinda hard to see, being it's a black car at night......

Got it. You really don't want big wheelies. Going up=fun, coming down=dented headers, pan, etc.
