The title says it all... gotta love that east coast air! His previous best up here was 9.11/147mph.

The successful completion of a 6 year quest.

Running in the 8's with a car that was his father's has been George's lifelong racing goal, and we reached that milestone early today. He has always said that he was going to sell the car and retire from racing when he reached this goal, and it is in fact for sale now..

Car only, turn key, best of everything-- well over 100K invested.. $40K

Complete operation with nice 38 foot goosneck trailer, generator, tools cabinets you name it.. easily $150K to step into a deal like this.. $50K for the works..

Give me a call if your interested, I would buy it all myself, but it would require me to be in a different line of work...

I can fill you in on all the details.

Congrats George, couldn't happen for a nicer guy!

Big congrats I know it has been a long grinding road for you guy's but you reached the goal.
Just talked to John csordas and they finally figured out there issue with his red car and they just went 9.70's at 140 with more to come he said it was lean and the sixty foot was off I bet we will see a 9.50 by the end of the weekend at almost 4000 lbs with pump gas.
Good weekend for all so far.

Ken... 40K for the car is turn key, including the $20K engine... and the 25K roller, the electronics, the 5K MW rear end ect ect ect.. That car is $100K to have professionally built , if it's a dime. If I had to build it again, doing all the chassis and tin work, paint, bodywork and all the high dollar parts.. no question it would cost me at least 50K, not including labor.

And yes, your intake and carbs sure helped!

Great to see this car in the 8's! I remember drooling over "under construction" photos on the TSP site. Hopefully, the new owner will bring it o Columbus:Brow::beer

Congrats George!!!! I think he actually ran three solid 8 second passes for the event. George was a happy camper, Jim you should ofbeen there to see it! You built one hell of a car!!

Doug did tell him if he wanted 8's come to Cecil and he will get them. Well I am sure it was worth that 1600 mile trek to get them 8's!!! George on one of your 8 second runs you can hear the tires just ripping off the line and you were gone!!

No doubt Cecil County Dragway is one of the fastest tracks in the country. Everyone was either running close to their best times or running their all time best!!!

On Saturday morning at about 10 am the corrected altitude was 485 feet above sea level and the temps were in the low 60's with a barometer pushing close to 30 inches. Oh and if that wasn't enough the track was sticking like glue.

Thanks for the pics Rick.... yes, wish I could have been there.. from that wheelie pick, I bet we could have gotten the 60' into the 1-teens, as it looks like the car is really hard on the wheelie bars there.. wasted energy for sure.. he did run several 1.20 and 1.21 60' times.

I see that track (and the air) requires a much different instant center than our tracks here at home.

But nobody is complaining out here.. and I want to thank you NE guys for providing an excellent outing for George.

I was really glad for George, especially after he came all that way! It was great to see his car HAMMER off the line and carry the wheels like it did. I knew he'd get his number if he came to Cecil. That's why I was relentless trying to get him here!
Oh, and while I'm thinking of it SCOTT, even though I'm glad George got his number, you're right, I'm happy I still hold the record. :TU:
