I have a 70 plain-jane Skylark, 350-4. I am contemplating a few changes - possibly. The front and rear bumpers need to be straightened and re-chromed, I can have that done locally for about $350 a bumper. Also, I like the GS/GSX hood. I was thinking of buying front and rear bumpers and GS spring hood. This would start in lightening the car and GS type clone. Problem is where do I buy the fiberglass parts from? I guess I am a hot mess on this car for direction, here are other thoughts, about in order, after the fiberglass 1. GS Grille 2. Front F Body brakes 3. Rear posi and gears (Sorry going 4:10's or 3:91's, so probably will need to change the rear end) 4. Rear F-body brake 5. 4 Speed 6. 455 with Edlbrocks, LS motor, or? Do I remove the AC? This car is all original, so I do hate butchering it up at all. What I am doing now is stabilizing it, meaning making sure no leaks and all works perfect. Little 350 has a few lobes/or lifter going bad, so putting a little Crower in it. thoughts - I like cruising, but a nice street/strip bruiser is always nice to, just hate to maul this poor thing. Thanks for letting me share
on the fbody brakes, that was a extremely popular swap thru the 80s-90s-early 2000s, what they don't tell you, is the 70-81 fbody spindle also acts as a lowering spindle, did not know this, did the swap on my 69 judge, the ride height was off, lower in the front, tire rubbed dumb ass me hanged springs, then to tall, cut springs till not right, was unhappy for along time, car handled great and stopped great, if I had a drum break buick I would get a kit to convert drum brake spindles to disc.
