was just wondering if anybody was deep into date codes to know how to figure out the date codes on our fenders???? THANX LATER SCOTT
According to Duanes date code book the fenders core supports etc.had the Julian date on them. Example if they are stamped with 21 that is the 21'st day of the year. 131 is 131'st day etc. Rear qtrs are coded by week I believe.
Are you sure the date codes for fenders and core supports are not "week" as in 48 = a December date? Check your book again and see.
Glen, unless they had 127 weeks in the year back in the 70's it cannot be week. I have a fender with a 127 on it!!!. ... I did check the book again and as I noted it is the Julian day of the year. Page #36 of Duanes book shows the Julian date for front end sheet metal. I read this as fenders and core support, etc. I believe the other way is for rear qtrs which have other info as well.
Dave, You better go back and look at my book again. The index for body panels, sub section front fenders, shows 2 possible date coding systems. One is week of the year (page 35)and the other is day of the year (page 36). For this particular part, the date coding system used depends on the production year. Duane PS. If you check the book you will see that some other body panels also do the same thing.
OH GRASSHOPPER Please help the unwise. where the hall do i find the date codes.67 skylark, i am looking for fenders and core support THANX SCOTT
I am not really up on the 67 parts but I believe the date code on the 66-67 fenders is at the bottom, near where they bolt at the rocker panel. The rad supports should have a "year" code near the headlight areas, and should have "week" codes stamped into each piece before it was welded together into a unit. Duane
Dave, That's not a "T0" but an "01", the date code is upside down in relation to the part number. Therefore that fender was built in the first week of the year, and as it's a 1970 model year fender it was produced during the first week of 1970. Duane PS. If you look at the 72 fender picture that David Walker posted, you will notice that the date code is stamped very lightly. All the 72 and replacement fenders were stamped this way. So if you have a 70 or 71 model car with a 3-digit date code on it then it's wrong. The only exceptions to this may be very late 71 cars as I never checked to see exactly when the change over of date coding systems took place.
Hello Guys not sure if this is polite but what about Trans Tags BA 72-BA-330 72 BA 1495? sorry for the bud in. Larry
Rims don't have a damn thing to do with fenders, except they sit in them, but if your wheels have a "WO" application code then they sound like 1973-1977 14x6 chrome rims. Duane
Scott, I was only teasing ya....................................... Did the "WO" application code work, they should be 14x6 chrome rims with the hub sunk back 3/8" making a small lip between the hub and rim.
