Iv'e seen this pic that you posted before..
Is this the D port that was said to be made from filling in with weld? It doesn't look touched though but its a early style vertical boss?
So many threads and posts to search for a answer!

Unmodified from what I understand. DM did not seem to be surprised of their existence.

  3. STAGE III

STAGE III Lost Experimental 455-4 Bolt Main Block.

I have posted it before as I have had the 35mm pics since the late 80’s early 90’s around the approximate time I had the 4-bolt main 455 Experimental block.
I have just taken pictures of these heads with my camera to keep them accessible.
I have no recollection of whose cylinder heads, these are, or where they came from .

I imagine it was someone that I was speaking to during the time I was trying to document the X-block , so if I had to guess the guy mailed me the pictures after we spoke, because when I found the X block, there was also a fully rebuilt motor on the stand with a set of stage two cylinder heads, and my jaw hit the floor.
It was the guys last set and he said they weren’t cheap. He then asked me if I had any idea how much he got for a set of those, I had an idea, but I didn’t want to guess because he was very old-school and if you said the wrong thing it would really set him off.

Without my asking, he proudly proclaimed that he got $300 a set for them, but those were the last pair!:confused::D

Someone got a steal but of course I wasn’t too devastated as I was loading up the Experimental four bolt:D:D

They sure did look pretty on that brand new Buick red motor though!

The D port heads you guys are talking about were the ones from the California guy was selling that were filled with braze(ing) and contoured to the D shape. I am 100% sure about this.
Believe me, I know of ALL the Stage2 hardware that is out there!

There is a set of non Stage2 but prototype heads out there which have a very interesting exhaust port. It is big and square in shape… on a certain ‘70 white GS with green GSX stripes. He works for Buick in the factory in Michigan…
Maybe I’ll get him to will chime in.

Didn't someone post a pic of these heads along with a set of exhaust manifolds that someone took alot of time porting them to match the heads?
These are on the white GS now?

Edit: they are pictured on post #324.
Would of been cool if these were made into production for the Stage 1 option.
Would have the GS 455 with the regular exhaust ports.
The GS 455 Stage 1 with these bigger exhaust ports,
Then the mightier Stage 2 option and heads.

There would be alot of cost involved plus finding the correct manifolds if upgrading would be a nuisance but look at how many different heads Chevy had for their BBC..

Just came upon this thread while looking for a different ancient thread. To answer someone’s question. The Reynolds, Kenne-Bell car being driven on the streets back then.
    Don’t think it ever happened.
My two reasons; First; it was and still is never licensed in its whole life. Second; the very low miles, 1,676 original miles.

And Peter, car #4085 was driven on the streets from what I’ve known.

    TTT!

Yes I saw them at mikes ta.s shop in az. They were in the gm box and we’re bare castings, not even machined for seats! Gregg, I took pics but lost them when I erased the sd card ?
