    Hey

Just wondering if it is true that all buick v-8's have external oil pumps? If so...is there any good aftermarket stuff to help strentghen it up so it doesnt crack at the timeing cover and so on.

hmmm...If you're cracking the timing cover than you have other problems not related to the oil pump...

Is yours cracked, and if so, where???

They don't have a "problem" with cracking, they usually have a problem with wearing into the case since the gears are much harder than the cast aluminum case, they eventually wear into the case and you lose pressure.

    Hey,

I personally dont have a buick 350 with a cracked timing chain cover....I have just heard about them doing that in respect to the external oil pump...I may have misunderstood what I was told....I just wanted to know the truth as to whether it did this alot or whether it was a false rumor i have heard. Thanks.

Cracked cover:Dou: nope! But I've seen my share of trashed ones. Its a shame buick didnt do like mopar and use a cast iron pump with a distributor driven shaft mounted to the front cover.Hmmm? I wonder if--- oh nevermind!

I wish it were more like the Caddy 500 oil pump setup. Iron on iron.
