Hey Just wondering if it is true that all buick v-8's have external oil pumps? If so...is there any good aftermarket stuff to help strentghen it up so it doesnt crack at the timeing cover and so on. Chriso No:
hmmm...If you're cracking the timing cover than you have other problems not related to the oil pump... Is yours cracked, and if so, where???
They don't have a "problem" with cracking, they usually have a problem with wearing into the case since the gears are much harder than the cast aluminum case, they eventually wear into the case and you lose pressure. Mike
Hey, I personally dont have a buick 350 with a cracked timing chain cover....I have just heard about them doing that in respect to the external oil pump...I may have misunderstood what I was told....I just wanted to know the truth as to whether it did this alot or whether it was a false rumor i have heard. Thanks. Chris
Cracked coverou: nope! But I've seen my share of trashed ones. Its a shame buick didnt do like mopar and use a cast iron pump with a distributor driven shaft mounted to the front cover.Hmmm? I wonder if--- oh nevermind!
