I looked in my three manuals, I cannot find an exploded view of the rear axle assembly to verify the position of the seal and retainer. I thought the retainer had the flange towards the outside (wheel side); however, it doesn't seem like it fits the seal correctly. Of the 1000 photos I took taking the car apart, I didn't get one of this. Help. I'll be waiting by the computer for a response. Len
it aint pretty This rear was from under a 72. What might be difficult to tell is I flipped the drum around to do the ol slide hammer to get the axle out. The picture does show the flange out. Besides being pitted the housing cleaned up reasonably well. It would be even better if I put it all back together. :laugh:
