ok, WISE ONES....ANYONE HAVE A PICTURE OF THE CORRECT LOCATION OF THE PWR TRUNCK RELEASE BUTTON IN THE GLOVE BOX AREA?...THANKS!
My Red Button I have one in my '71 GS if you don't get a picture from anyone else. After you open the glove compartment door, it is along the left vertical edge. I actually think there is an indentation there for the red button. BB
Picture of Trunk Release Button Marc, I'm no artist when it comes to taking pictures, but give this a try. The red release button is at the very bottom of the left edge inside the glove box. I hear if you mount the button higher you get more horse power and mounting it lower gives you more torque. You can see what I picked! (I'm having trouble figuring out how to send the pics. I hope this works.)
I'm not saying that's the wrong spot, since I know next to nothing about the A bodies, but it just doesn't seem like it's in the right spot there. I've always seen them on the top edge of the glove box opening facing down.
Where Does the Button Go? Rob, It looks like your car has a small "lip" along the upper edge where your button is mounted. I an indentation where my button is mounted in my GS. It is at the bottom of the left edge. :Smarty: I hope it's in the right place. BB
Guys, I have been asked to stick my nose into this discussion and answer this question so here goes. First off, on A-body Buicks (at least from 68-72) the power trunk release was a dealer option and not a factory option. So there may be cars out there with buttons installed "by Dealers" in locations other then the "recommended location". Now with that being said if you have a 70 Chassis Service Manual and look on pages 150-14 and 150-15, they reference the actual Dealer instructions used for installing the power trunk release option. (Figures 150-12 & 150-13) They show the correct location to be what looks like midway up the left vertical edge and about 1 inch or so inward from the edge of the metal dash. Maybe someone can post a picture of these pages. Now this info is correct for the 1970 A-bodies. I did not bother to check the other years/models as that info was not requested, and is available in the various Chassis Service Manuals for each year. I hope this answers the question. Duane
The '71 manual is a little different as it's shown at the top edge of the glove box. Pic is a "typical" & the sheet metal differs a little from the A- body. Doesn't really look like enough room there , per the '71 manual. I took note of George N.'s site when I mounted mine. Much more convenient than reaching over to open the glove box. The horizontal member behind the lower dash is a great spot. Close to the fuse panel too which makes for an easy install.
