    Hi Everyone,
Yes, I lived the dream on Sunday. My wife and I went on a 10 day driving holiday through Washington, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, California then back home to Vancouver.

We saw the Great Salt Lake (which was almost dry), Bryce Canyon in Utah which was fantastic, Grand Canyon (which was filled with smoke from a controlled burn so we couldn't see it), drove the Las Vegas for some sun and warmth. Smoke from the California fires came in over night and so didn't see any sun that day. So far the trip was quite a disappointment. Then we arrived in the Monterey area. Saturday morning, just on a whim, I phoned Pebble Beach to see if they had a tee time. They did! 9:30 AM Sunday morning. Well, if you don't know, it costs a hell of a lot to play there so I really had to justify the $$. However, in the end considering what had happened so far in the trip and the fact that I said I wanted play this course while I am still physically able made my decision. I booked it!

I am now really happy I did. To put the cost in perspective I just bought a brake line kit and 4 shocks for the same amount. The shocks and brake lines are going to be under my car and I'll never think about them again. However, the memory of Pebble will live forever.

I posted some pics on the web if you're interested. Heres the link.

I played Pebble in 1990. It was just awesome! The weather was extremely calm. We were the last group off the 18th, and it was nearly dark.

I parred the 7th, then dumped 3 balls into the bay on the 8th, over that chasm. Jack Nicklaus says the 8th is his number 1 fave hole in the world. That string of holes along the ocean (7th through 13th I think) is ungodly intimidating. Zero chance to recover if you hit it right. That 10 foot crater in front of the second green is a nightmare as well.

Arnold Palmer owns Pebble now (one of his companies - and Arnie was instrumental in buying it back from the Japanese at a HUGE loss to them! ).

    Congrats on a dream fulfilled.

Darn shame you couldn't see the Grand Canyon. It is the single most spectaular sight in the world. Bryce is really cool too. Zion is equally as nice. Death Valley is a wild ride, too.

Yeah, I make up my mind too....

I'll play it next time I'm out that way, no matter how much I complain about the cost! My younger brother played it, gave me a card from 1999. :TU:

I ALMOST got to play Pinehurst #2 a few weeks back, just didn't work out.:ball: YET.

I got to play Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill last February. A friend of mine payed for the whole weekend (must be nice to be rich). We did the spa thing and all the fancy restaurants, we lived like kings. The bad thing about that weekend was when I got back home, I realized my life SUCKS!!!!!!! I played terribly, but I enjoyed every minute of it. Congrats on living a dream only a few of us have.:TU:

P.S. Did you get a caddie and walk?

    Hi Trey
I really wanted to walk but the other three guys were riding, plus my wife wanted to come with me so we rented a cart. If I ever get to play again I will definitely use a caddy and walk. Especially if it is a nice day. The feeling of walking on the ground that the greatest golfers in the world have walked can't be put into words. I had the same feeling when walking through Elvis' house Graceland.
I'm glad to hear that you too have "lived the golfers dream".
    Cheers
