Ever wonder what those 1/4-20 holes in a block girdle are for?

Jim - Your comment about getting off the line reminded me of a statement made by a NASCAR intake manifold tuner. He was known for being involved with winning cars and what he said made a lot of sense: Its not how fast you drive that wins necessarily, its how fast you get there. His point being that you will drive longer going fast if you get to speed quicker. Sounds like great minds think alike! :Brow:

JW, the Stef's pan I bought from PeeGee Scotty came with a screen just like that in it. Even though it was expensive ($500) , I'd say it's gotta be better to buy the pan than build it. That looks like it was time consuming for you to make. Lord knows you need all the spare time you can get to squeeze in some SLEEP. BTW I'll throw in my 2 cents about the trans... I say 'glide. You can always tinker with gearing and convertor flash to get the car to 60 ft just as good as with the T-400. That's what I did (with Scotty pushing me to) and it worked great. Got rid of a lot of dead weight and rotating mass. My car's around the same weight as the one you're building. Later, Doug.
