Hey everybody, I'm new to the 455. I have a line on a source for buildable engines and all the parts to go with it. I know the 455 was in several years of Buick models. Is there a particular year of engine block that is better than others? If so is there a particular engine code to be aware of? I'd be looking to put aluminum heads on the block after going with bigger pistons and cam work. After the work is done I figured to mate it to a 200R4 trans and a built rear end to accommodate the HP. I haven't worked out the numbers on HP as of yet, but I would like to see upwards of 500 HP.

They are surprisingly affordable and let you achieve zero deck without excessive block milling. The "Garage" section is the place for that, correct? I will be taking photos as this goes. There's a lot to be done from the ground up.
To be honest... I'm not sure as I have not done that yet. I was thinking that the "Members Rides" section would be the place.
Hello Again, Am I correct in thinking that the second digit in the engine code is the year of the block. I will be looking at a few in the coming week and want to be sure of the year of the engine that I buy. Thanks in advance.
No, the second digit of the VIN derivative, not the engine code. https://www.diyauto.com/uploads/users/3/2017/05/Blockmods004-1493913076.jpg (1970) https://www.diyauto.com/uploads/users/3/2017/05/71EngineVinStamp-1493913076.jpg (1971) https://www.diyauto.com/manufacture...55-block-id-prep-and-oiling-mods-by-jim-weise
