I have some replies to some earlier questions. Sorry for being slow to respond.

I don't understand the 1200 hp question. Perhaps this was directed to someone else.

As far as the foam in the pan, this was done because we couldn't modify the oil pan. I wanted something to control windage and I thought it may help. Every time I have taken the engine apart (which is about 3 times to many) it has been fine. But, I wouldn't bother with this. 2 years ago I bought a pan from Mike Phillips. He modified a Stefs pan and put in a scraper system. He said he had seen horsepower increases with this over a stock pan. I would contact him about this.

As far as the breakdown of the competitors it went "approximately" like this: 25 Chevs, 6 Fords, 5 Wedges, 3 Hemis, 3 Pontiacs, 3 Olds, 3 Cads, 2 Buicks. Should equal 50.
There were only 54 entries. There were some who backed out prior to the competition and a number who's engines expired before the end of the pulls.

A Ford won by a 30 point margin over the second place Chevrolet. A Wedge came in third. Fourth place was 40 points behind third. Fifth place was within 1 point of fourth. Both of these were Chevs. A Pontiac was sixth.

Popular Hotrodding is featuring the buildups starting with mine in the december issue. They will probably do this for a few months.
He did a pretty good job on the article but there were a few misquotes especially the 800 hp thing. The question was "how much hp do you think it will take to win this contest?" My answer was "I wouldn't be suprised if someone makes close to 800 hp". It wasn't that I expected to make that much horsepower.

Hope I answered all the questions. If not, ask em again.
