There's an NOS embossed GS455 air cleaner sticker on ebay going for around 46.00 so far. It can't be too hard to make a plate to emboss the repro air cleaner stickers that we have been forced to buy, and the reward would be instantaneous. Also, there is no one who carries the firewall rubber clutch seal for the nailheads. I don't know about the later cars....Dan
A quality print shop could definitely produce the stampings and make an excellent sticker - that's the good news. Bad news - if you try selling them, you get to meet 'the boys' from GM! Less hassle to just buy them. Scott
How does that work exactly? If you buy a licensed repro and modify it, why would selling it again be a problem? Wouldn't it be the same if you just modified and sold any other car part such as a tranny, oil pump or anything else? Once the stickers are purchased, wouldn't you be able to do what ever you want to them and sell them because you own them, as long as you don't advertise them in a magazine or anything? Forgive me if I sound naive. Also, didn't the original stickers have white numbers and letters as opposed to the repros being silver? I was lucky I scored NOS GS400 air cleaner and 400-4 valve cover decals years ago from CARS while they still had them. It's almost a bummer that I have to use them. At $8.00 a piece, I should have bought 6 or 7 sets. What an idiot I am. ou:
Ken, I certainly wouldn't have problem with that scenario. Just not sure GM would see it that way.o No: I'm not even sure exactly what is currently available as far as repro stickers. Anyone know? Thanks, Scott
Hi Ken, I knew someone that inquired Harley Davidson about using there logo for their product and they said if you make something with there name for a friend or yourself it's ok to use their logo. But, If you make an item with their logo for profit and distribute in large quantities then, you will need to make a licensing agreement with that company. I think Harley Davidson said in excess of 5,000 pieces you would need a licensing agreement with them. It would be best to talk to Buick and see how they are with exact reproductions of there decals and other parts. With less and less NOS parts becoming available, we need to do something to help keep these cars alive instead of seeing them in the scrap yard. Plus, with having exact NOS reproductions, this hobby would become more affordable instead of having people charge a million dollars for every part that is GM original! Rob
Scott, Just pick up a Year One, Poston, CARS or any other Buick catalog. They have tons of stickers for the Wildcat, Skylark etc. There are stickers for emissions, a/c, jack instructions, air cleaner lid....etc. Not NOS anymore mind you, but at least they are available. Stickers are almost the last worry I have as far as repro parts go. They're one of the few things I CAN get for my 69.
Stickers The BEST stickers made are by the NE Chapter of the GSCA. You need to contact John Csordas. Don't know his email address. Alan
Re: Stickers Al, actually I think they had a bunch of NOS ones or something if my memory serves me. Or maybe he just had repros at a decent price. Last time I saw Csordas was at the show in Bayview Maryland some years back. Of course, all he had was 350 and 455 stickers. No 400 stickers. Just adds more to the saga of owning the "forgotten" GS.
Scott, what's frustrating for me is I'm so close I can taste it. It's just that last few thousand bucks is very elusive. :stmad:
Dan, check this out. http://www.drdecal.com/DrDecal.htm He has embossed stickers. Only problem is the GS455 one doesn't say embossed. I have an email in to the guy now to find out why??
Mark Cornea (alias Dr Decal) :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: Stay tuned. Mark has been doing 100 pt resto decals for Oldsmobiles for years and we kept him in a dungeon making them only for Olds. He escaped recently and has been fooling around with you aliens. You'll love his product and working with him. :beer :beer :beer :TU: :TU:
