They dropped the price to get them to move. That price was what it was years back. Good deal for somebody get them CNC ported in the way you go.

I've never really considered using those heads, but for that price and the TA heads being unavailable, I may buy a pair. I personally don't care for the Chevy rocker setup, but you can make it work.

Damn that was fast! $200 off a head might be worth it to see if another place has one.

I thought so too, Edelbrock claims 274cfm on the intake and 183cfm on the exhaust @.500 lift as cast.

I succumbed to the temptation, I bought the one that Edelbrock had and I bought the one that Jegs had. With taxes and all, it's $2,900 and change to my door. Not bad.
    Thanks

Glad you were able to score a set. Who knows what the future brings for heads!

So, my guess is that you won't see another run of these. Thats probably the last run of the Edelbrock heads. Hopefully TA completes some in the future.

If you go out on the web and look for aluminum, Buick, 455 heads, you’ll find other vendors that have them in stock there $1520

They were previously discontinued but seems someone @ Edlebrock realized TA didn't have them & saw an opportunity so they made a run over the summer (IIRC they became available in late June/early July) in which case they sold out relatively quickly. I wouldn't be suprised if they do it again at some point although they might let demand build up again.

If Edelbrock would do stage 1,2 and Mopar style intake they would have a good market for sure!

Just keep in mind, those E heads MUST be checked for adequate valve guide clearance, as well as if the valve job is worth the box they came in.. which, unless something has changed recently, it won't be. Maybe not quite see-thru.. but close.

Most professionals consider E heads as "nice cores to start with".. and this is across the spectrum of brands, according to my friends in the industry.

So add $300-$400 to what you have in them to get them "out of the box ready"... I laugh every time I read that on an E head box.

I have made good power with them, once you straighten out the issues, and don't let that small exhaust port fool you.. They flow good air.

    Jim,
Enlighten us on the exact issues, is it the valves or the seats that are poorly done? Are they not concentric to each other? Are the guides too tight or too loose? I have access to the tools to correct these issues, but it would be easier to know where to start looking.
    Thanks
    Brent
