This cam is equally at home in a low compression engine as well as one with higher compression. This cam works well with around 10-12 degrees initial timing and 30-36 degrees total timing depending on the efficiencies of the other parts of your combination.

We recently used this cam in a customers meticulously restored 70 GS stage 1 A/C car with great results. His combination is a 455 with 8.5:1 compression, competition valve job and hand blend, the cylinder heads are not even port matched, untouched cast iron intake, forged pistons, competition hone, and calibrated 800 Q-Jet. On the dyno this engine made over 450 HP. With low compression the cam had a noticeable lope at the 850 RPM idle. Makes enough vacuum for power brakes.

Just last week we used this exact cam in a 400 with similar results. This engine has port matched SP1 intake, the cylinder heads have a competition valve job with hand blend and are port matched, stock small Q-Jet, 9.5:1 compression ratio. This engine makes over 430 HP. This engine, with our larger Q-jet, makes over 450 HP as well.

The difference between these engines is the intake manifold, port matching, and the 400 has a little more compression. Both engines were dyno tuned with 92 pump gas, incorporated matching valve springs, and stock early style rocker arms.

We have many other custom grinds for every application.

gilly and the guys over at earick thanx for the quick reply!!! i have looked at quite a few cams recently and i'm still undecided i was looking for a lobe sep. around 106-108ish area would like a very rough idle but has to produce power i got a 70 SF block .30 over and im using the offy 360 equaflow heads are untouched as far as i know except for valve springs maybe??? motor is strong just want a little more HP headers are hooker super comps if that matters??? i didn't build the engine so i have no idea what parts were used for the internals if you would like i can be PM'd either for more questions/suggestions ......thanx
