I am looking for a 300 block with st-300 case that i can use for lining up and fitting my project. I am in the Dallas Tx area and will come pick it up. I know most of you guys have transitioned away from the lil guy and jumped to a 350s for your rides. If you can help, would appreciate it. PM for local phone number.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

  2. I have seen in your previous posts that you were looking for a 1965 300 4brl Intake. I cannot tell whether or not you were successful. If you are still searching AFTER CHRISTMAS, contact me at sba3fch@yahoo.com.

Cast Iron Intake [with or without complete but frozen automatic Carter Carb]; thermostat housing; and a set of intake gaskets. $315 total, shipped through USPS within the lower 48.

I have 2 blocks in my driveway in ther scrap pile but I'm in Illinois. They have been sitting there for weeks.............if you were close you could grab one but needless to say it's not worth the drive.

They will be off to China soon.

'nekid' & 'spec' -I wonder want a bus shipment would cost for the block and trans-case(tailshaft?). there is a bus stop where I work north of Dallas. Might be willing to pay for bus shipping.
'gumn' -Found at least three intakes in various places.

Hoping I get some more hits on the block & trans case before long.

    Thanks all for your input

I think the block would be too heavy to ship Greyhound. I don't think an average person wouldn't be able to lift it.

There has to be one closer.

id have to drive an hour and half to greyhound it so id need gas money for that. its pretty heavy also.

Thanks guys for thinking about it. Yeah I got to thinking about that too and it didn't seem too feasible. Most of the old yards around here are gone. May just need to go looking sometime in the near future if I don't get too many hits before long.

This guy is in Elgin, TX. I've never bought parts from this guy but I've seen him mentioned on ther board here. He advertises in Hemmings and that's where I got his info. Hopefully this helps.

I found a 300 in San antonio. Sadly he wants $400. may try for it but the budget isn't looking good for it.

you can find 350s for like 250. i know you want a 300 but it may be better to run with the 350. more power and still buick.

What are you trying to line up?

I think the 350 has the same motor-mount and bell-housing locations.

Others can chime in and say for sure, but its worth looking into.

A 350 block would be alot easier to find.

The exhaust ports are different, but 300/340 heads will fit a 350 block for mock-up.

BTW, I love your rat-rod idea, Im building a couple right now myself:TU:

I have a 350 in the garage. Its a 79, very low compression low HP motor. Will cost as much to go through it as the 300 stroker I am building for the same power output. Yes I know about the availability of the 350 vs the 300. The 300 is coming out of my mom's old car. To say it has sentimental value would simply be understating the obvious. Since the motor/trans will be going in a non stock location I need to "dummy" it in to the frame. Would rather not have a complete engine and trans 'hanging on the hook' so to speak

Im not saying to use a 350.

Im saying use a 350 for mock-up because it has the same mounting points as a 300.

Finding a 350 block for mock-up will be WAY easer than a 300.

If you have no attachment to the 350 you already have, strip it down and use it:TU:

The exaust ports on a 350 are way different, but 300/340 heads will fit right on a 350s dowl-pins for exaust mock-up.

Well okay then. wasn't sure if the 350 block was longer or not or if the block mounting holes would work out. Now if I could find that dad-burned trans case.
