took my motor apart this weekend, and after the heads were off i started on the timing cover -- only to realize that i'd left the harmonic balancer on after pulling the heads.

tried sticking a large screwdriver between the flexplate and the engine stand to hold it while i pried with the breaker bar but i snapped the screwdriver

any thoughts on how to get that bolt off with the heads off? impact wrench?

buick 350 in a TR-6?!?!?!?!? Are you insane??? hehhehehe I WANT ONE!!!

Impact wrench should zip that right off. otherwise, if the pan is off use something to jam up the crankshaft...

Or use the poor boys trick- position a breaker bar with the appropriate socket on the balancer bolt, wedge the the bar against the floor and crank the motor, works every time.

You shouldn't need a puller to get the balancer off...This ain't no Chebby!!! The balancer should be a slip fit on the crank snout...You may need to pry it a little to get it moving, but it should slide right off...
