somewhere along the line, I have gotten an urge to drop a dual quad system on my 455. I'll tell you, I havent the slightest idea if this is a sound idea or am I asking for trouble.

Could I get some input on this?

the other night i was at a buddies house and he had some of the old pamphlets from CARS, and there was a dual carb set-up by offenhauser in it....i don't know if it was dual quad or not, and these books were from 98' but maybe check them out......

i guess you weren't asking if they exist, just if it was a good idea...i say go for it, what the heck!!

I had 70 GS455 that I put the Offie dual quad set up on.
I used two Carter 625 AFB's and 4" spacers! (I had to take the hood off)
    It ran great!!!! No problems!
It was a real head turner.

my last car a64 plymouth had two different dual quad set ups on it. motor was a 10.5 to 1 440 with a 4-speed, 510 lift cam ,2" headers and good gears.
1st I tried a offenhauser dual quad , dual plane intake with 2 holley 600 vacuum secondary carbs hooked straight together not progressive. It ran good. not too many problems. 2nd set up was a tunnel ram ( not sure what make ) I think it too may have been an offy. with the same carbs but new ones straight out of the box, I didn't do any thing to them,"wow" that was awesome way better than the dual plane. And very streetable. I drove it all over the place. And on top of that It got decent gas milage,I was shocked.
I drove it to norwalk from my house which is 2hrs. one way and used 1/2 a tank of gas (about 7.5gal.) don't be afraid a dual quad set up can work well on the street as long as the rest of the combo is right.

I've also gotten the urge to run a dual quad offy. I'm putting a 455/th400 in my '64 Wildcat. I'll do some more searching around here before I ask a bunch of repetetive questions. I'm not at all concerned with it being a pain to drive, just want it to run well...my drivers are EFI'd and turbo-dieseled, this is my toy.

Both of my dual quad set-ups ran very well, I was Very happy with the tunnel ram. I think a lot of the sucess was due to the fact that I ran new carbs that were not too big and were properly adjusted. going with too much carb is deffinatly not good on this kind of set-up. The first time I deove the car with the new intake/carbs on it I notice a huge difference. better low end better throttle response and it pulled like a wild monster right up to the rev limiter in every gear. Awesome!!!!

I do have to say , i had to sell the car, though I hated to do it. That is the only car I really miss of all the ones I have had. and as soon as I finish the car I am working on now and make some more play money I intend to get her back!!

    Here are some pictures though!!

Can't go wrong with a dual quad but plan carefully.
