I would love a dual-quad setup for my 455, does intake from TA fit 455s? With it ported and polished and two nice 700 cfm carbs on top I bet the riv would fly. Is the linkage easy to setup? And is this setup easily streetable or is it a total beeyotch to get and keep running right? Would appreciate any help, thanks.

The dual quad intake for the 400-455 looks nice but doesn't perform all that well. The design leaves power on the table that could have been had. However a couple of people are porting them and welding on the bottom to make them flow better. Jim Burek at PAE is one who did that a few years back. He even did one for me but I never got around to using it.

Looks is the ONLY REASON to use one. The 455 will blow up long before the dual quad, with it's short runners, will begin making power. You can cover up all the low speed power loss with a 4000 rpm converter, but that's what it will take. Porting the dual quad doesn't make the runners longer. Offenhauser has made a dual quad for the BB Buick for many years - been there done that. About 15 yrs. ago I fabbed a sheetmetal dual quad setup and the primary runners were about 11" long, which is what a low rpm (3000-6000 rpm) engine needs. In the absence of an adequate dual setup, stick to a large single carb.

Due to the fact i have two Buick powered cars (78 Chevy LUV and a 66 Sport wagon ) i have two trains of thought on duel carbs. The Luv i want to use the 383 Dodge tunnel ram as soon as i get the adapters i need to mount it (need help here). The other is the 66 Sport Wagon i have and i want to use the Offy 2X4 setup that i have built( looks is the program) and both cars are 455 4 spd. witch helps in the program. The LUV is a street strip and the 66 is a street car with attitude.
And yes they would make more power with a single carb if all out power was what i was looking for, but hey these things make so much power anyway that giving away some for looks is a no brainer and unless you are all out class racing and just bracket racing all out power don,t allways win any way.
