    Ok, folks...

I'm looking for ideas, on how I should have dual exhaust done on my '69 Skylark 4 Door, which has a 350-2bbl.

I was thinking about running straight pipes, since my single exhaust with a 24" Cherry Bomb is actually pretty quite.

What do you think it would cost me, to have a shop do some straight duals, with before axel dumps? And, what about rear exit?

Mind you, I'm thinking of just plain 2 1/2" Aluminumized Pipe.

with no crossover and no need for tailpipes, it shouldn't be much at all. you'd just need two pipes with i believe one slight bend in each, a couple mufflers and a a couple hangers. might be a bit more involved if you replace the downpipes, too. (no headers, right?)

if you want the full system, you might look into one of the flowmaster sets. you can get a full one for 200 bucks sans mufflers, or just the axle back for 100. if you have a muffler shop that uses alumined pipe, i'd go for the latter, otherwise buy the whole kit. i have one small piece of plain steel in my exhaust and it looks like crap while the aluminized pipe is still shiny.:puzzled:

    Yeah, stock manifolds.

Down pipes? I've still got single exhaust.

And, my Y-Pipe is pretty much rusting away. It's original.

I just installed headers on my car. I had dual flowmaster exhaust connected to the stock manifolds using TA performance down pipes. Since I got he headers I no longer have the need for the downpipes. I paid $119 for them. I also welded on header flanges to them. The bottom of one of them (or maybe both, I can't remember exactly) is a little scrapped up, but solid. When I first did the exhaust it was a little low, so it bottomed out. I was able to raise it up a bit, and hadn't bottomed it out since. Anyway, if you interested in buying the used piped, $50+shipping and there yours. They are mandrel bent and aluminized, only a little surface rust were I welded the flange on the end. The drivers side also has a fitting for a oxyen sensor that I put in. I have a plug for it if you don't put an O2 sensors in.

Hmm... well, I think next week I'm going to call a couple exhaust shops.

Do you guys think I could get a 2 1/2" Duals, with turn downs before the axel, and Flowtech Raptor mufflers done for $200?

maybe, if the mufflers are cheap. i'd say for just turndowns you're not looking at more than what, an hour of labor? then just add materials...

i'm not sure how long the bending usually takes, though, so i'm not sure on labor...anyone else got an idea?

I paid 150 for the exhaust off the headers and cut before the rear axles

That was not including mufflers. There not going to be a cheap job here. I paid over 700 for all my exhaust

    Headers
    Mufflers
    Pipes
    H pipe
    Blah blah blah

I have a 74 Buick Apollo 350. I took it to a local shop and had the guy cut the entire exhaust system off, y-pipe and everything, except for the stock exhaust manifolds (no headers for the Apollo :ball: , they need to be custom fit which is way too expensive). He then did a full "true" dual system with 2 1/4" pipe with twin 2-chamber flowmaster 40 series mufflers, up and over the axle, complete with chrome tips that "dump" behind each of the back tires. For everything, including labor, it was $450 out the door. Not too bad considering that the flowmasters were $75 a piece, extra for the chrome tips, and some extra labor because the exhaust manifolds had to be drilled and tapped to get the old bolts out. And the flowmaster 2-chamber 40 series sound AWESOME on the Buick 350 :TU: , much better than a :blast: Chevy.

My 74 350 is all stock with everything matching. The motor has 84,000 miles on it, and runs perfect. Only thing wrong is that the choke on the carb is bad, which is like a $10 part. And I think that there must be a carbon build up on one of the valves because it will start to tap after about 30min. of highway driving. But if I shut the car off for about 5 min. and start back up, it won't tap anymore, no matter how hard I push the car. Any suggestion on ways to clean the carbon without breaking the motor down. Thanks for your help.
