Gardner makes exact which is small. Torque Tech and TA Performance makes mandrel bent 2.5 or 3 inch. The mufflers are cheapest at say Summit . I like the Walker 20 inch case which is called Dynomax.

Take your car to you local muffler shop and tell him what you want...If you have a 400 or larger, have him bend up some 2 1/2" pipes with a good sized muffler, like a Dynomax Hemi Turbo.
    For a smaller V8, get 2 1/4" pipes.
Buicks tend to be loud, so you will want a crossover pipe and large body mufflers to keep the local police from picking on you.
Most muffler guys will fix you up for a bunch less than mail order folks. Muffler guys have a tendancy to base everything that they do on Chevy and Ford experience. That is why you need to specify large body mufflers. If you have to have Flowmasters, go with the 70 series. If you go with Dynomax, go Hemi Turbos. I have large case Dynomax race Magnums on my 300 with a crossover, and it is WAY too loud. I am probably going to add some 12" glasspacks in my system to kill some more of the sound.

When I had my shop open to the public, I did "generic duals" using either turbo or glasspack mufflers for $200. That price was based on the economy 8 years ago. I suspect that $300 would do a complete system really nicely. including tail pipes

Around 300 for a nice system, dam, i like that, well, im still 15 and the engine isnt even in the car, what do you think about the headers, new or keep?

I know this thread is old, but I called 2 muffler shops and the told me around 500-600 bucks for headers back, WOW.

I'm looking at TA headers (does hooker make competition headers for 70 350?) and the American Thunder Exhaust Kit from Flowmaster, what do you guys think about that?

On my 68 Skylark I went with the Flowmaster AT system.

You need to get the TA headpipes to mate manifolds to system.

I think I paid around $290 from Summit deleivered. I forget how much the headpipes were but it was under $100 delivered.

Buddy of mine did the install at his shop. He said fitment was fine, no problems with install. Didn't charge me but since he said it was no problem it should be reasonably within $150 on the high end.

    So there's $540 without headers.

The note is loud, not loud enough to wake the neighbors; but, I can hear the car coming from around the block when my son comes home. :)

I'm looking to go with headers, possibly TA headers, but what would I need to bolt up the TA headers to the AT exhaust system?, thanks!

I just got done installing a dual exhaust system on my 72 convert with a 350.
I used Flowmasters American Thunder "A" body 2 1/2" system from Summit.
    The cost was $285 delivered!!!
It came with their 30 series mufflers which are pretty quiet at cruise and a nice bite to them under power.
Everything was in the kit, I did not have to buy a thing. You will need to cut the two pipes to length that run from your headers to the H pipe and either weld them to your header reducers or use a connector which is easily done.
    Nice system.
    Good luck!

So the American Thunder system is 30 Series mufflers?, I would like the 40 Series. Can you tell me what parts would I need. For example, the connector. Thanks

    exaust system

Suggestion; Take the exaust system off the car, Then take the old head pipes and the old tail pipes to your local muffler shop and have them bend new tubes to match. purchase 2 thrush 24 " turbo mufflers. Return home and install the system your self and save your self several bucks. If you want to pick up some power [3%] and 1-2 miles to the gallon, put a crossover pipe ahead of the mufflers. This also cuts the noise about half.

My system came with the 30 series mufflers which at Summitt look to be more expensive than the 40 series so maybe they would switch them out for you.

Support the BUICK vendors like T/A performance. I have used both the 2.5" and 3" systems. The fit was perfect and was engineered to fit our cars.
