Drop Spindle advice

    I have read through all the posts on this subject. There is tons of info in them. What i am looking for is just and opinion on one subject. What is more comfortable on our 70-72 skylark/gs's? One inch drop spindle, or two inch drop spindle? Is two inch too much? Anyone care to show a picture of their car with one inch drop and two inch drop? I have read where one person said their headers scrape once in a while with the two inch design, but we don't know what headers were used. Anyone willing to show pics of their cars and let us know how much drop was used, (by spindles only not springs) would help alot of people decide what they want to do. After all, it is the most economical way to drop the car considering you are doing a disc brake conversion. Thanx Guy's

    Does anyone on here think that a two inch drop is too much? Does it cause any problems at all?

    Some headers drag with stock spindales.

    Go stock as Jim says. Speed bumps do reek havoc on headers. You will murder things if it is lowered.

    What about another option of using 1" drop springs from opg. I have a 70 that i did eight years ago and went all stock, but i am trying to go a little more protouring with this build. Six speed, 550hp. But i do not want headers touching at all ever. If i have to go stock height i will. All the disc brake setups seem to come with 2" drop not 1". I am a little leary to go with the 1" drop springs unless anyone on here has used them and has no complaints.

    i've got a 2 inch drop, with TA shorty headers, baer big brakes, and global west suspension. out back i did a 1-1/2 inch lowered spring. unfortunatly at my stage (year 3 or 4??)i do not have the engine/tranny in the car or front fenders on yet so pics can't help ya right now. As it sits i like the look, and it'll be easier to raise the car after with a 2 inch drop if its too low? personnally if your draggin bottom and inch or so prob won't matter? just my 2 bits and reasoning for my setup; powder coat or paint em as they will rust.

    I went with 2" drop spindles when I switched to disc brakes on my '64 Skylark. I should have stayed with stock height spindles and lowered the front end with different springs or adjustable coil overs. As it is now the tires rub when the wheels are turned and the suspension is under compression. Also, I can't fit a floor jack under the cross member. I don't have issues with speed bumps. Glides right over them.

    While this may not help you on a `70-`72, when I put new suspension under my `65 I really wanted the car to sit exactly the same. I've had plenty of experience with stock replacement springs and I knew it would sit higher if I went that way so I gambled that the original springs had settled through the years and ordered new 1" drop front springs from Hotchkis with 1-2" drop in the rear. The gamble paid off and the car sits within 1/4" of where it was before. I was thrilled.

    Well i ordered cpp tubular control arms, along with the four wheel disc brake setup. This is a large kit and comes with Hotchkis one inch drop springs. I just want the car to be a little lower. I've got a big 455 build and want to go with the tremec overdrive system. After all is said and done, including headers I should be able to fine tune the heigth with tire size. My plan is to go with a steel rim if i can find them in 15 x 10 and x 8, or 16 inch if nessesscary. A nice vintage set of buick vintage center caps would look nice on these. So the hunt is on to see who, if anyone makes a steel rim in different sizes. I have searched the internet and all the aftermarkets and can't find vintage steel rims in different sizes. Is there a place that custom makes these?
