I bought one (the 300) a while back when it was on sale. I figured it was a qimmick so it sat on the shelf. Today I needed to drill 6 holes in 18 GA sheet metal and the first hole took forreeevvverrrr! I took out the drill doctor, read the directions in about a minute and had a sharp drill bit in about two minutes. Wow - it really works! :eek2: The bit cut a hole like a hot knife through butter! I will be using this tool a lot more! :TU:

Nothing more frustrating than a dull drill bit. I hate em. I sent all my bits to a sharpening shop and paid to have them done. Maybe I need a Drill Doctor! Peace, Mike D.

Too bad you bought one. I've got one that I would give you. Eats up the bits and nothing comes out right. It's the smaller, blue colored one.

You can have it, and I sincerely hope you can use it, cause it was going to be donated to Goodwill.

Shipping and such is on you. I'll be home by Friday and let you know what the costs are.

Just remember me if I ever need a part, like a window crank removal tool!

You can't have a GM car and be without the door/window handle tool. Here is where a guy was going to make his own removal tool.

I wonder, how he made out?

As a teenager, I needed to remove a window handle once from my Cutlass and didn't have the tool.
:idea2: I used an open end wrench. It worked.

    I since bought the tool.

I can get them off without the tool, no problem.
I always bugger up the clip getting it off:mad:.
And, with out the tool, I'll bugger up another clip putting it back on:rant:.
I got to have the tool.

Good Afternoon, and thanks for letting me horn in your conversation. I am the Director of Marketing for Drill Doctor. I am happy to see a thread started about Drill Doctor helping people out of a bind. However, it sounds like there are some users not getting good results. We stand behind our products not matter when you bought it, so please call our tech support staff here in Ashland Oregon so we can either get your machine working right or figure out what needs to be done.

You can also check out our website

The site wont allow me to post a link, but just google it and you will find your way there.

You can access manuals, FAQ's, videos and other information that might help you get that sharpener working correctly. Please let me know if there are any questions I can answer. Thanks,

    Matthew

Still going to send the thing to you Tom, travel and other stuff is holding me up.

If you can't get it to work you might want to contact the company and take them up on thier offer. Darn thing will probably work great for you.

I posted a photo of the wrapped wire that was holding the window crank on another thread. No window crank removal tool in the world would have gotten that thing off, took pliers to unwind it.

Drill Doctor will never replace the man that can sharpen by hand no matter what the material When they make one you can tell your drilling task verbally and it sh-ts one out I will buy it

As you said & showed a picture of the window clip removal tool you have. I was going to send you the same thing. Maybe YOU should take them up on their offer. I have had one for years & it works just as good today as it did when I 1st. bought it. Maybe there's a problem with the "newer" models???? Of course I can & do sharpen my drill bits with a bench grinder when I'm in a "Rush".

    Tom T.

P.S. If you still want another clip removal tool same as you have I WILL purchase & send it.

Nobody can sharpen a drill bit as well as a machine. Nobody. I work in a sharpening shop and guys that have been sharpening drill bits everyday for 40 years can't get the relief as perfect on both flutes as a machine can. We have played with the Drill Doctor and it is great for someone at home but it is way too slow for us. We have it's bigger cousin, the Darex XT3000 auto drill sharpener and it is amazing. It is pretty close to idiot proof, turns the bit by itself, and is so fun to use the guys argue over who gets to do drill bits. I just wish they made a model that would sharpen BIG bits. If you have a problem with the Drill Doctor call the because their service is spectacular.

Just so you folks know, when drilling in steel, a cobalt bit should be used, at a pretty slow speed and moderate pressure.
If you use a high speed steel bit, you will dull it or burn them up no matter what the speed.
    Hope this helps.

That's right. The rule of thumb with steel is slow speed and frequent lube and releasing pressure in regular intervals to allow the chards to break off and the flutes to clear properly. That's how I do it anyway.

Faster speeds can be used with aluminum.

I have a drill bit sharpener too. Not sure if it's a drill doctor though, it may be a Chinese knockoff, but I only used it once in like 12 years. I really need to go through all my bits and sharpen them on some rainy day.
