what do they mean. should the wrinkles be towards the front, back or middle on the bottom? does it have a relationship with tire pressure or how hard the tires are being hit? anybody have info on this? thanks, dave

There are arrows on the tires showing the rotation.

thanks, i know that. i was thinking more about how the sidewall wrinkles on the launch. i read some info a while back on slicks about how to read the wrinkles but i can't find that info anymore.

I don't know that I've ever heard of anyone "reading the wrinkles". You can "read" the black marks left by your tires during at "test" launch on the street. If the marks have a dark center, then lower your air pressure. If they have darker black on the outer edges, then raise your tire pressure.
I would prefer simple experimentation, while keeping good notes. Just adjust your air pressure while keeping all other variables the same (even the weather if possible), then see how 60' times are affected. Every combo seems to be different, so what is gospel truth for one persons car may not work the same for you.

Generally a radial tire (slick or DR) will not wrinkle the wall when set-up correctly. If you have big wrinkle marks in your sidewalls, you could probably raise the tire pressure. I was running 19 psi in my M/T 295/65's. Wrinkles may also be a sign you are "hitting" the tire too hard. You will need to look at your instant center and shock settings. A car that wrinkles the sidwalls heavily on the launch is just wearing out the sidewalls faster. Some cars wear out the sidewalls before the wear dots go away. The car will usually be more consistent by not hitting the tire as hard. I have pictures of my GS with the front wheels a foot off the ground and the slicks aren't wrinkled at all. That was with Hoosier 9 x 30 C07 radial slicks.

    Have fun.

thanks for the info. i'm not wrinkling the tire real bad 2 or 3 lines can be seen in pics i have of my car leaving the line. i run 17.5 to 18 psi in the tires to get it to hook consistantly. i'm still playing with it to get best 60ft. i have to run 33psi in the right air bag to get it to hook. i don't have anyway to adjust IC, running stock control arms boxed lowers and factory sway bar.
