Double VIN Stamp

    What do you make of this? I can't tell for certain if they stamped the same number twice, or they whiffed on the car before this one. VIN_Block.jpg

    Not that this is necessarily the case with yours as there were probably several reasons this could happen, but if a car, and they didn't care if it was a 6 cyl Skylark or a special ordered Stage 1, jammed the line for some reason, they had a big forklift & would remove the car from the line junkyard style & throw it in the dumpster & that car's engine/trans would get re-stamped put into another car. When the line stops, all hell breaks loose to get it started back up. I witnessed this first hand on a tour @ the Astro Van plant in the mid-90's & have been told stories of it @ Flint.

    Thanks guy, that is kind of what I was thinking. The number placement seems like it fits that scenario, like they weren't trying to hide something.
