OK, I know its not a Buick, but was sold by Buick dealerships so please don't be to hard on me. I bought this little gem yesterday; its a 71 with 73K miles. It was being sold on consignment; it appears to be a two owner garage queen. The last owners had it for 9 yrs; they estimate they drove it a couple hundred miles to local car shows only. Paint job is from the original owner. Not bad for 9+ year old paint. I had the car evaluated, it rust/bondo free and extremely straight. There is some surface rust near the battery which is common for these vehicles. All systems were checked; mechanically its in very good condition, no leaks. The bad; the horn, wipers and backup lights don't work, however I found out they are on the same fuse, it may be blown. The interior is near excellent condition, it does have a cracked dash and steering wheel. I had one of these cars in the late seventies, their no drag strip king but their fun to drive. Mine died a horrible death, it spun a bearing, and I was a student at the time with no cash. I sold it for $200. No, I did not pay full sticker price; however, I had to pay shipping from Kalispell Montana which is close to the Canadian border. The dealer was able to get me shipping at wholesale to close the deal. I think I'll add a racing stripe, I think that's good for another 30 HP.
Are you kidding!? I love those cars! My brother had a new one back in '71. I wouldn't mind having one myself!
I've seen a few on used car lots over the years, but it seems like the interior, especially, was always completely trashed. The interior on yours looks to be in amazing condition. Congrats on a great find!
IIiii LIKE it. A buddy local still has one he built years back. It is red, V6 Buick, automatic, with a big blower sticking through the hood with a big "bug catcher" scoop/breather, tubbed with huge rubber in the rear with wheelie bars. Under the hood it has all the blower with the belt drive all hooked up, polished stainless nitrous lines going to each port on a tunnel ram intake, looks killer. But none of it works, there is a carburetor down inside the blower that runs the engine. It is, like yours, a real eye catcher. You have a real nice ride!! Mike
Nice score!I too remember these cars and always liked them.If you haven't seen it already, there is an Opel section at the BCA forums on the AACA board. There is not a lot of traffic on it but it is a rather new one and quite a few people there lobbied to make it happen, check it out. http://forums.aaca.org/f218/
I don't think they make one of those in my size!!! Looks like you would have to butter up to squeeze in there.
Thanks for the comments guys. I am looking forward to taking possession; shell look good next to the Buick. Regards, Jim
