Does anyone know how wide the pinstripes on my Wildcat need to be?

    I'm looking for information as to how wide each pinstripe is and how far apart they are from each other for my Wildcat. I just need to paint those stripes down the cheatline and the car will finally be done!
    Also; does anyone have any idea what the colour of those pin stripes should be? I'm thinking white; I can't see it being anything else, but who knows what they did in 67...
    The car is painted in the correct factory colour now, see below;

    Since nobody has had anything to say, I'll just add my sorta nothing answer=our '67 cat from new had nothing and the same with our neighbor's. Mine now had an aftermarket 'bump strip' installed-so nothing there either. I'd say white and 1/16' wide and say 3/8" apart-or maybe just leave it alone?

    On the build sheet for my 67 they listed the stripe as white, but after applying a 3m adhesive stripe to see how it looked I opted to go with red. I figure I will repaint the car at some point and do the stripe properly but the standard 3m stripe doesn't look too bad. If I remember correctly were 2 thin stripes of equal width...

    Hi Marc,
    I believe the stripes would be white on your car judging from the chart for the '67 GS. Even if it wasn't "correct", that's the color I would paint them with that white interior, if it were my car. That would look great on that car! I just had my car striped last year and we went with a 1/8" top stripe and 1/16" bottom with 5/16" between the two. Of course that's on a GS 400. Those dimensions may not be correct for a Wildcat.

    Thanks for the info, all of you! That's great!
    I'm inclined to figure Buick used the same stripes on all of them, I can't see them using two different types, that would just get too confusing. Nowadays a computer could be programmed to just read a card, in 1967 that punch card would have to have been fed in manually and the dimensions manually set on the painter, and if they used tape, one size makes sense because the assembly line workers in their hurry would get them mixed up.

    So it's going to go with white, and it'll go with the GS 400 dimensions, Thanks!

    I had an all original '68 Wildcat with factory pinstripes. Before I sold the car, I took pictures of the pinstripes with a tape measure in order to gauge the correct width and spacing, as I will need to re stripe my convertible whenever it gets repainted. Just looked at the photo. The stripes on my '68 were 1/16" wide (both the same) and 1/8" apart. My guess is that the same measurements were used in '67, as the car bodies were essentially the same in '67 and '68. Also, it is of note that the factory pinstripes were done as two parallel lines that do not come to a point on either end. If you are going for an original look, that is something to consider.

    The stripes look great in red, and they suit the lines of the car the way they are. But...yes, I've gotten a couple of responses that the stripes were the same size and not like the GS-400; - I'm also trying to jog a faint memory I have that seems to confirm they were the same size, thin, and fairly far apart, which would account for it looking like a taped on side-moulding. I just can't remember where or when I saw that car...I'd like to keep the lines as close to factory as possible; I'm a bit anal that way. So the stripes were painted above the cheatline, and not below or directly on it...that helps too.

    So; - now I'm leaning towards 2 stripes like wildcatsrule (David) describes in his post. (thanks for that!)

    Now, another dumb question; I lost the original build-sheet to this car years ago, is there any way to get another one? Does anyone or GM still have those records?
