I am in Desperate need of a quart, Code 11, Dupont Lucite single stage Acrylic Lacquer paint for sale.
I have a 1974 Apollo that the last owner Super-Glued the body side moldings back on, instead
of replacing the 2-sided tape. When the moldings were removed, it took the paint off, except
for the places that the glue is still on the car and will have to be sanded out.
It's a 54K mile California car and I'm trying to get by without painting the whole car, and thus
ruining the originality of a decent Cali car by having to paint the whole thing.
I can get away by doing it this way by putting the body molding back on.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well for Starters that cars lacquer has lead in it . And I would have to say that it would be tough for someone on forum to have lacquer paint w/ lead. And if you just want ordinary Dupont lacquer wouldn't it cost more for shipping than what the paints worth? like just go to closest paint store and order some? Or are you asking because it's not available anymore? if that's the case I have connections in paint world. let me know and I will see what I can do.

You are correct, It's not available, at least in Central Indiana.
something about VOC's and they have new and better paint with clear coat, etc.
I'd like to keep as close to original as possible, for awhile anyway.
If you could help me out with a single stage, Code 11, 1972-1974 DuPont White (preferable),
I will do whatever I can to help you out. I not asking for a handout, willing to pay.
Please let me know when and where. or price + shipping.
    Thank You very much.

    Thanks for the info.
I have looked at the TCP website. It is kind of confusing but I guess I need
a paint chip off of my Apollo to get the formulation of the paint correct.
I'm not sure which part I could take off to send them so they could get a good match.
    Deck Lid? LOL
If I can't find an old can of Code 11, then I will get with them.
    Thank You for the info

D B I got you PPG in Laquer 1qt. (historic formula) Dupont not available . Probably because they just sold to conglomerate for Hundreds of millions! ha! What I mean by historic is you will get the white that matches your car and not a 84 Monte Carlo SS that code 11 3967 for some reason is diffrent formula! I otta know I painted my 72 Stage car with singl stage urethane and ICI (PPG / Nexa) now. has ahistorical formula with tints they don't make anymore. so I ordered all left over tints un opened for future restorations

what brand Lacquer thinner should I get?
Is there also a hardener that supposed to be mixed in too?
Sorry for all of the questions but I'm a mechanic,
and just enough of a painter to be dangerous.
    Thanks

Laquer thinner is Laquer thinner. get a mid temp. no hardener in Laquer paint. make sure you finish your sanding w/ 600 and use a good wax/grease remover before sanding or priming.

GM #11 lacquer is white, as far as I know. It has had a variety of names over the years, but if you go into a paint shop and ask for GM #11 White, they know what you want. Or, at least they used to, before all the other paints appeared on the scene. For entertainment purposes, you could go look at the names given #11 White over the years, back in the day...

Steve, I beg to differ, with regard to paint codes being the same, year to year. 1971 #43 green (AKA lime mist) is NOT the same as 1972 #43 green (sea mist). NAPA has different color mix for the different year. Similar situation for #13 silver in 1983 VS 1984; VERY different colors. All were lacquer base paint.
NO, I am NOT a professional painter, But i do know the difference in a COLOR CHIP; and I can read the difference in the formula/ composition/ recipe/ whatever you wish to call it...

I trust Steve has the right formula for my Apollo.
And a stand - up guy too.
