Do T-3 Headlights Have Date Codes?

    When I got my 66 it had all 4 T3s with the clear triangle. I was wondering if the bulbs had any sort of date code that would indicate if they were originals.

    I've attached a breakdown of the years and correct T3's.

    Larry and Randy,

    Thanks for the replies. I think I need to re-phrase my question.

    I'm wondering if the lamps have a specific date code like many other parts on the car. For example, the clear triangle bulbs were used between 60-67. Did they have a unique code that narrows the date of manufacture such as the year, month, day, etc? There are some other numbers on them (molded into the glass) but I can't make heads or tales if its related to a date code.

    Thanks

    Daves69 Too many cars too work on

    Yes, they do have date codes stamped in ink on the bulb.
    The ink did not hold up very well though. Usually if you try to clean the bulb you will wipe off the date code.

    I just removed a couple of the lamps from the assembly.

    The low beam has an E125 molded into the glass face at the very top. On the back stamped in orange it has:
    L
    4002
    31 6 4 - Guessing this is the date code - can someone decipher it?
    12V

    The high beam has F35 molded into the glass at the top. The stamp appears to be:
    L
    4001 (not 100% sure of last digit)
    33 6 1
    12V

    Tried to get a pic of the molded in numbers

    Still digging and found this decoding for the date code date on a chevy site.

    For a code of 31 6 4
    3= month
    1= line number
    6= year
    4= day of month

    Thus March 4th 1966 which is consistent with the 03E build date so these are the same bulbs that came on the car new. :shock:

    If anyone can confirm, that would be great. This info is not in Duanes book.
