    Sean,

what did you run without the nitrous? what octane did you use? what kind of car were you running? Thanks for your insight.

Have you ever pulled a head off to replace a leaking head gasket( water into the cylinder) and notice how clean it is compared to the others. This makes me a believer in distilled water remove carbon.

more octane inherently burns less completely. One byproduct is carbon. Over time it builds up. You should be able to tune the engine for lower octane gas when running low compression, which is an attribute of the Buick.

Gary's 350 was not designed to run on 87. Even with the lower compression of 1973

Gary, here's an idea- if your so worried about carbon deposits, get a boroscope and take a look inside the cylinders of your engine thorough the spark plug holes. They make a 45* mirror attachment so you can see the combusion chamber. That ought to save you the cost of tearing down a perfectly good running 40k mile original engine for no reason

LOL Jason, no worries man, Im with you.. i aint in no hurry to take heads of my engine. haha.. .. but a boroscope sounds fun. ..

Jason the water was 87 octane in 73. Sunoco 260 blue magic I loved looking in the tank of 67 vette all that blue gas.Only problem was you went 10 miles and you were back again.LOL

Yeah, Sunoco 260 premium was 104...leaded! The old Wayne 511 Blendomatic pump! THey called it the Sun-dial. Im looking for a restored one.

You ought to talk to Cobra Bob...he sold his 427 tri power Vette convertible for 2500 in 73 and he had to beg the guy to take it! At least you got 10 grand for yours!

This was a 83 Buick Regal, nothing special just a beater car that I swapped a 350 into and sprayed... The 12s were with the nitrous on a basically stock 350...

Seafoam, keep the engine temps cool, and back off the timing.
You can run 87 octane if you really want to.
