So I just got done upgrading the Electra to the Hyperspark ignition system and pulled the old "points' distributor and coil and put in the 'to find a new home' box. Popped the cap off to see how things looked inside and to take pics for a sale and... huh? So what exactly do I have here and what kind of value does it have? Cheers Bob
Bob, you have a 455 distributor dated Nov 7 1971. They were used on GS and others, not Stage I. That distributor has a Pertronix Ignitor 2 and appears to have one of the super crappy rotors I was talking about a week ago. I'd put it's fair value at about 100.00 because of the Ignitor and that's assuming the vac control works, good bearings and loose advance. Somebody could just buy it, and drop it in. It's like this, Bob... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pertronix-...906651&hash=item2adf93e8bf:g:YtsAAOSw7UBeJ3Q~
Thanks Frank! I'll pop it up for sale along with the Flamethrower II coil that goes with it. Cheers! Bob
1972 Buick 455 distributor. It only has 14-18* of mechanical advance. It's a good distributor for moderately cammed engines that need more initial advance.
Sure Bob, maybe add 20.00 for the coil. Like Larry says, it's not a bad unit. Some people don't like the Pertronix mainly because of the 2 wires (doesn't look stock).
Thanks for the extra info Larry, and Frank. I put it up for $100 including the coil, plus shipping. Ran when parked Cheers Bob
