Finally got around to getting what I could removed and salvage from my Regal "Stg1Regal" that was burnt in my garage fire.

A few of my buddies from my IN Chapter of the Buick GSCA showed up armed with heavy duty tools, air compressor and air tools, heavy duty jack stands, and a engine hoist.

The biggest hurdle was getting my Regal from it's spot in the yard where it was put during the cleanup of the garage fire debris, since it sat mainly on the frame rails because the fire destroyed the tires and the heat collasped the springs.

It took several pulls and yanks from a 4wd to get it free and dragged onto the drive.

With it sitting on the frame rails we used the engine hoist to raise the car using the bumpers , high enough to place jack stands under the frame front and rear.

With the sheet metal pretty much useless from the fire ,we cut the fenders and radiator support off with sawzalls (very painful to watch :ball: ) , and removed the front bumper.

That gave us great access to engine motor mounts.

With one under the car , swearing and cussing at the rusty and heat cycled bolts, wich he either broke off or broke loose, none the less he got the trans loosened up from the dual-hump crossmember and got the the crossmember also removed from the car.

The ole Regal still had some fight left in her, we had a drivers side rear header bolt give 3 grown men the fits trying to remove it. As ya know those headers don't come out with the engine.
We managed to get the engine pushed over to the right far enough to pull the engine and header together out, with the trans attached.

The dang header bolt took all 3 of us to get it out..... even out of the car on a engine hoist!

Yes it still turns over!! had to loosen up the distributor and pull it up a bit, since it melted, to get that .

We noted ,that the Eldebrock intake is now scrap since the q-jet melted on it and dripped to the intake floor.

We also removed the 8.5 GN rearend by cutting thru the trailing arms.

So all in all we salvaged the 455 engine, the 200R4 trans, the dual hump cross member, my exhaust pipes and Flowmaster mufflers, the driveshaft and driveshaft safety loop, and the above mentioned rearend.

    here's a few pictures. >>>>> WARNING !!!! Images may be Disturbing!!!!<<<<<<

yes it is great ,, we a have great group of people in our Indiana Chapter of the GSCA , one lived an hour away ,the other over two hours. They also brought loads of tools ,since mine were lost to the fire.

That other Regal is actually a GN, a long time back I blew the engine up in it, too much boost to little oil p.s.I., so it was going to originally get the 455 Buick swap, but upon pulling the engine and addressing some small issues, we found out the A-pillars where they meet the cowl door jamb area , were rusted.
It is a T-Top (wich explains why it rotted) car , and putting in a healthy 455 and it's torque, was decided to not be a great idea.

So I used the sway bars, trans , Rearend, steering box, and driveshaft from the GN and put them on my 82 Regal 455 Buick swap, this why I am trying to salvage them.

Wish I could use that GN....

You thinking about buying another Regal or 70-72 skylark to put that eng, trans, and rear end in?

Yes , would love to do another Regal, wich would be inexpensive since I already have everything to do a Buick 455 swap.

I have been in touch with a guy that has a 85 Regal that is a Roller that did have a Buick 430 in it, 2 year old paint , new bumper fillers, cowl hood.... so thats an option.

Yesterday I seen a Buick Regal wagon for sale , so after going to a friend of ours wedding , and it's close to the wedding , my wife and I are going to check it out.

Now with that said I would love to have a 68-72 Buick Abody.... a 68 Buick Skylark Convertible or a 70 Buick Skylark , GS or GSX clone,.

Near me also are 2 other possibilities for cars , a 65 Skylark 2 door post, runs but needs love , and a 56 Buick Special 2 door post, it also runs and drives, but would need addressing in the brakes and suspension, very solid car.

So yes .... this ole boy is jonesing right now...

Great work on salvaging those parts, most people would have given up....

I have a 72 Skylark and a 86 Regal but the rust free Regal would have to have 5000 for but would take 1500 for the skylark without the hood. It has a new roof on it.

Pretty much that's all I had left after the fire, so since I'm gearhead, dig Buicks, and want to build another "toy", I had to salvage what I could for my next project.

If you could , and you don't mind , could you e-mail some more pics and info on both of those cars, e-mail is cr2motorsports@hotmail.com , thanks.
