What is the difference between the cases of the dynaflow and powerglide trannys? I'm wanting to put a floor shifter in my '60 LeSabre but Hurst doesn't carry stuff for dynaflows

Totally different animals. A dynaflow is essentially a 1 speed tranny with a variable pitdh converter. It does have a manual low range that is only used if you select it. A powerglide is a 2 speed tranny that utilizes 1st and second gear automatically.
The other problem you are running into is that the dynaflow has a wierd shift pattern, PNDLR I believe. Don't really mess with dynaflows so I can't remember for sure on the pattern. Jim Burek

You nailed the shift pattern, it always throws me of after I have driven another car for a while. So could I do a floor shifter for it or are you saying the shift pattern would not work that way?. The main reason I want to do it for looks.

You could probably do it with a pure ratchet shift that ratchets both ways, except , the other problem again is that the dynflow linkage is probably completely different than the later model transmissions, so hook up would be a problem. Jim

Well then it's looking like I'll just keep the column shifter. But now I get to go out and test the "Low" gear I didn't know about :3gears:

    Low Gear

The only "problem" with low gear is that the car has really nice pickup :3gears:

If only high gear ran that nice.

Yeah, I noticed :) I haven't been able to take the car out yet(no seats) but I did do a "test" in the driveway. In drive it just reved up but in low it didn't take much to break um loose :3gears: now to explain the marks on the driveway :Dou:
