Having parted out and salvaged numerous 70-71 E-bodies, the only thing I recall is a California mandated fuel vapor return system. They are pretty easy to spot, just open the trunk and look for an extra gas tank filler tube thingy. I think smog pumps didn't come to mopars till the late 70's, I seem to recall owning a 78 Magnum with a pump along with the infamous Lean-Burn system. But those sure weren't musclecars.

Why did all GM cars for California have them from `66-up?

    Thanks

I bought a 70 Hemi Challenger from the oringinal owner and restored it and a Hemi bought in California had a noise reduction package which had turned down exhaust tips, hood pad, undercoating but no air pumps. But wedge motors had a EGR valve whick let some of the intake charge go into the exhaust to help "fuel the fire". Thanks Jim
