I bought some Tripoli polishing compound at Home Depot. It is a hard 1 inch diameter tubular bar. It is not soft at all and basically doesn't transfer easily onto the buffing wheel. Should it be a little softer? All that transfers is a fine powder.
polishing if it is what i think your using it should be brown tripoli. yes it is hard coumpound. what kind of a wheel are you using? spiral sewn or loose cotton. etheir way it will tranfer to the wheel it does not take much compound to make it work. the friction between the two creates heat and melts the compound to the wheel.uzzled:
