I thought that there would be a 4 in the vin code designating Buick. Can't remember for sure. I need to look at my Buick M21.
OK I got it wrong. The vin on the M21 that I have that came out of David Gramlows brothers wrecked 68GS is: 8Y142270 8=1968 Y=Wilmington Assy. Rest of #'s should be vin
Another M21 question? On a 69 GS is the spedometer hole on the driver or passenger side of the tail section I have seen tail sections with the spedometer hole on either side. Tony
are muncie's all the same, except for the tail housing. the muncies were gm bolt pattern bop. if not how many dif ones were there. just curious. jim
Didn't the tags refer to certain engines as well? For example a GS350 would have a different tag than a GS455. Sorry Alan, not trying to hijack. This is good info to learn.:beers2: I pulled the tag on my m21 that I'm certain belonged to a 68GS400 and I'm not saying that the tag is original to the trans but it reads 3915083.o No:
We appreciate you trying to shed some light on this. I've tried to search for some info but don't come up with much regarding the tags.
no apologies needed, its all good ... information is power The trans I have is a 67 with no vin stamped, no tag, but Hey !! freshly rebuilt uzzled: back in '84 or so
