I was rummaging through Oliver Colteryahn's garage the other day and I stumbled across a block that was sleeved down with custom main caps to fit a nail head crank. I don't know much of the specifics about the block but apparently it had iron Stage 2 heads on it and was used in a circle track car back in the early seventies out here in So.Cal. Guess they used to spin this thing to about 7,500 in the straights and it was very fast. Although missing now it had one of the original KB girdles on it. Cool piece. I've attached a picture of it. Hope I did this right. Bruce Kent
Bruce, Do I see main journal spacers????? What is the main journal diameter on that block??? Cool piece... show more pics if you can!!!! Thanks
Is it me or are those main caps custom made? That's incredible. Anytime you find some more "interesting" things in Oliver's garage.......please feel free to post pictures! :Brow:
That's a cool piece..........Look's like there are spacer's still in place. NH's used 2.500 main journals,I'd like to know what CI they ran it at? Keep going Bruce,See what other cool stuff you can find
Yeah.......yeah. Keep diggin'. I loaned Ollie some stage 2 heads back in the day and I never got 'em back. Let me know if you fing 'em!
Stage 2 heads Yup, loaned them to me a long time ago....just sold them, he he he. Yons want to see some FACTORY adjustable rocker arms?
I've got a great idea! Let's get a couple of dozen old sofas, sit in front of Ollie's garage with a keg and watch Bruce dig thru it!! :TU: No telling what kind of rare goodies are in there! :beer It'll be the first annual "Ollie's Garage Tailgate Party".
ollies garage I couldn't help but notice that block is sitting on a sizeable forklift-indicatinf the size of ollies garage and the equipment required to "rummage around" in there!!!
If I recall correctly Mr. Anonymous.....it was 397 itty bitty, big bore, little stroke, cubic inches of nasty buick power. Ran wicked too.
it was 397 itty bitty, big bore, little stroke, cubic inches i'm calculating the 455 bore ( 3.900 " ) with a 364 crank ( 3.390" ) at 396.13 cubes. interesting. who is this Colteryahn guy, anywho?
Bruce, Oliver Any info on this engine? How long were the rods in that engine? They must have been a mile long.
