I was talking to a buddy of mine over the weekend about all the "Day 2" stories in the recent musclecar publications and got to thinking: what would a big block Buick GS Day 2 be comprised of? I guess the first mod would probably have been the B4B, as that was popular back in the day as well as part of the Stage 2 package but what else?
Lets see.... Edelbrock B4B (a given) Holley 850 double pumper Old school Hooker super comp headers with the one tube that ran outside of the frame rails Kenne Bell valve covers Mallory Unilite fly eye air cleaner A vintage CD ignition Kenne Bell cam- maybe an MK1? Let me think, I'll come up with more
I was thinking about the Stinger S-4 ignition, Kenne-Belle valve covers and Mickey Thompson headers as possible mods as well.
I remember Keystones being popular because they resembled the Buick rallys. A Sun Super tach replacing the clock too Gabriel Hi-jackers. Or Hurst air shocks. If you want it to look like a late 70's reject, you can put shag carpet on the package tray and add some 6x9's with chrome grilles:grin:
Then spray all the interior bulbs red for mood lighting and the interior turns into Hotel Buick!!! LOL
on automatics you need to cut out the chrome shifter selector panel and install a B&M shifter or V-Gate on 4 speeds
FM converter or 8-trac with Jensen Tri-axle speakers ( i am looking for a set now to go with my rebuilt Pioneer Super Tuner 8-track lol):TU:
Wasn't Day 2 mostly bolt on mods? I guess a new cam and higher compression makes sense. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
In that case, the K-B 107 would be a great addition. The "Window Rattler". Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
You guys pretty much described my build to a T. Someday it will get there. Can't forget the Kenne-Bell deep sump oil pan. Also- running Koni "Classic" single adjustable shocks up front. There's at least one good pair of 15x4 original Keystones in the closet to the left of the oil pan . . .
