Dave do you know if a 68 h/o without power steering would have two groove crank pulley or one? I ,ve heard both ways. :Do No:

I am not a 100% certain, but I believe it would be a single. It would only have to route around the Alt and the water pump.

pretty sure the assembly manual would show whether it's 1 or 2 groove. I'm at work and don't have mine in front of me so that doesn't help us right now.

My, oops - My friends car (68 H/O) has manual steering.
I think it should be a 2 groove pulley.
    I have one I pulled off of a 68 350 non-a/c 4-door Cutlass.
Let me know if you need one.

The 1968 Chassis Cervice Manual showa a two groove crank pulley with a single grove waterpump pulley. The belt will go in the groove closest to the fan.

I really wish we could trace the Oldsmobiles like the Pontiacs through the PHS. I'll bet any amount of money (or a six pack of Miller Lite at the right time), that there were VERY few Hursts that came with manual steering. The bump in the sticker price for the Hursts (with all the mandatory options that brought with it) was significant that who would squawk at Power Steering for 20 or 30 bucks (wish I had my reference material handy). If they were buying a racecar, they probably wouldn't have bought an Olds anyway. Gentleman's Hotrod, right Rusty? :bglasses: :bglasses: :bglasses: :bglasses:

Yeah, they would have opted for the much cheaper and lighter F-85!

Do you have both pulleys? Crank and the water pump. Are they two grooves at the crank and one at the pump. Thanks Noel

Oh, how I wish that there was an "Oldsmobile Historic Services". Not that I've ever been taken, it just would be nice for the market in general.

I stated in a previous post about HOW I think my former 68' Hurst was ordered so cheaply. The dealer was in MN. They were on shaky financial ground. Let us say that when the program was announced, the owner of the dealership said, "Hey, let's get one of those in here and put it on the floor to generate some foot traffic. Keep the options down so we can sell the thing!"
So, the car was ordered WITHOUT some usual items seen on many 68 Hursts, like SSII wheels (the car, we think, had some "PA1" special wheel discs by discussion with the original owner), no rally steering wheel, no tic-tock-tach and gauges, and NO power steering. Just the mandatory Hurst stuff, of which power steering was NOT mandatory.
It has a tinted windshield, those wheel covers, and an AM radio. THAT'S IT!

Noel, I do have the pulleys, complete with fasteners. I pulled them off of a 68' 350 2bbl 4-door Cutlass that was Lansing built. This was a NON-A/C car.
I will look them over in a few days and re-post what the count is on both pulleys.

Noel, If your 68 is using water pump 400269, then you need the W-car pulleys because this is the HD cooling water pump and regular 350 non a/c pulleys will not line up. I believe your car is non a/c IIRC and if it doesn't have HD cooling, then any 350 non a/c pulleys will work since you would be using the other water pump. I don't have that casting number with me off hand as my book isn't with me at the moment.

He is correct about this however if you want to use the 350 pulleys a 67 442 HD cooling pump will work. It is the same as the 68 HD pump except it has the short snout to fit the non ac 68 350 pulley. Your casting number will be incorrect but who will know?
