I would like to hear from anyone who has had their dash pad redone or perhaps compared a refinished one from a place such as Just Dashes, with an original. I either need to refinish mine (66 Riv) or find an original. It is important to me that a refinished one has the same appearance as an original to the critical eye. When refinishing, will they strip the old vinyl off or cover over it. It only has hairline cracks and the foam isn't shrunken, deformed in any way nor does it have gaps where the cracks are. Thanks
Check their website. They do great work and they are very proud of it. I remember they quoted me 1000 for a skylark dash. On a Riv just be ready for sticker shock.
I've had them do several dashes. They have one of mine right now for a `70 GTO. They strip them to bare metal and start from scratch so if you are going to have them do one then send the worst one you have, the price will be the same. Yes, they do very nice work and yes, they are expensive. I keep hoping someone else will get into the game and form some competition for them, maybe the prices will come down a little.
Another friend just told me to expect $1000 as well.  The 66 pad is a simple design compared to most but I have a feeling that won't make much different in price. Hopefully I can find a nice used one somewhere. Thanks for the responses
Check this but its not cheap either. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1966...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Not sure how it looks but the car from Muscle Car that was documented on Powerblock ( speed tv ) they fixed the dash themselves. I watched it on the computer but they never showed the finished dash
jason I had just dashes restore an ac dash for my 70 gs. you asked specifically about detail. And because of that i will now comment on my experience with just dashes. the over all quality of the dash is very good. But all of the edge detail was completely lost. I called them and spoke to the owner. After some lengthly discussions he offered to do another one if he had a core. As it turned out he did not have another 70 core. And at that point more lenghtly discussions and he stated that the dash was beautiful and that he felt he delivered what he promised. More discussions pictures sent and he finally agreed to take 300.00 dollars off the original price. The owner made things right as far as the money but the fact is i have a dash that lost all of its edge detail. Which is very noticable.
Hi Kacper, Thanks for posting that. I saw that one and had them send more pics. Its a 67 pad. Even though 66-67 interchange, the 67 pad is noticeably thicker across the front edge.
Thanks - Thats what I was afraid of. I was wondering how well they could reproduce the edge detail. I'm very particular and would not be happy with that at any cost. Most probably wouldn't care though.
