    Thanks, Rob. :TU:
I saw both on eBay, and as long as the shipping will cost me approx $15-20, I would avoid risking the cheap one. I just open my clock yesterday, and the way it is built is definitely not made to last 30 years.
The one at 46$ seems in good condition. Do you think that is a fair market price (as far as we can talk of market price for such emotional items !).

Try cleaning the electrical contacts, and clean the mechanism by flushing it with WD-40 or similar.
I've had good luck in the past doing this on a couple of cars.
I did this to the clock that is in my '70 Riviera, and it has kept good time and not stopped in several years.( Except when I pull the battery for winter :pp )
It's worth a try before spending the money.
To bench test them, I used a battery charger.

    I know I had a couple lying around from '71 & '72 Electras.
I'll see if I still have them, and if they work well. :)

Dale, that is exactly what I did. Electrical contacts are ok. When both snap contacts touch each other, it sets the spring, and the swinging wheel starts to swing and rotates half a minute before stopping, and the contacts never touch again. Apparently, it should work alone 1 or 2 minutes before the snaps are in acontact again.
I even tried to stretch the spring to the max. I just won a couple of seconds of swing !
I started with WD40, and then dried all and used lubricant taken from a watchmaker...nothing.
I am not really needing an atomic precision clock in my car: just something where the needles rotate alone to de "as if". !

Ther is a guy on this Board, who repairs/and /or converts them--Patsusedparts. I know him and he is a good person to deal with.

    Well, never mind then.
I don't seem to have those extra clocks anymore.
    I must have pitched them.
    Good luck on your quest!

I am the fellow that Jim Lore mentioned. (thanks Jim :TU: ) I have several of these clocks, I clean them up and rebuild them as needed, including replacing the front "glass". Let me know if your car has red or white hands (1971 came both ways) and I'll send you photos of what I have.

you can email me direct here

$73.10 including Air Parcel Post and insurance. I do take paypal. Let me know if you want it, I'll pull one out and run it on the bench for a couple days to make sure all is well. Also, I need a full address of course. :)

He does indeed, and ships fast ! :TU:

Just received it today. Super clean, new glass; knob as new, I really have no regrets to have given up on a recent NOS one on eBay.

Thanks, Pat, and now I need to put it in the car and look at the hands rotating ! :TU:
