"CUSTOM 455" emblems

I once saw a set of these on the front fenders of a 1971 Centurion (I think). The emblem is the same as the one found on the quarter panels of '70-72 Skylark Customs, but has "455" added to them. I can't remember if it was "CUSTOM 455" or "455 CUSTOM", and can't seem to find any photos of one on Google. But, I'd like to find two that are not pitted. Anyone?

    Hello,

All of the Centurions in 1971 and 1972 came with the 455 stock and did not have any badging. It was an optional engine in 1973 and came with a separate 455 badge below the Centurion logo. This looked like other 455 badges but had extra curvature to fit the fender.

None of the Centurion badges came with "Custom" on them. Centurions were hard to distinguish from LeSabres, the most obvious difference is the lack of venti-ports in the hood (Centurions do not have them). The badges you're looking for maybe for a LeSabre. I think the 455 was an optional engine in that family.

You might want to check eBay and see if there are any badges that fit your needs.

Thanks, John. The car I saw them on was on Craigslist about a year ago. It may have been a LeSabre or an Electra - can't remember for sure. I didn't see anything on ebay either.

I am pretty sure I have a pair of them. I seem to recall they are in decent shape but will have to take a look.

They are listed in the old catalogs as:
    71-73 ALL B (455 ENG.)........1394882........MONOGRAM & ATCH. PARTS (CUSTOM 455)

I've sold several and here are some pics. Sorry, don't have any now though. :(

Thanks for the pics, Dean. Those are the ones!

Dale, let me know if you have a good set, or even one.

I'll look for them tonight and let you know.

I took them off a car in a junkyard probably 20 years ago.

After Brent 'StageTwo' gets a set, I'd love to have a pair of these, too.

    Thanks, Matt

    Brent, Matt,
I guess they aren't as good as I thought. They have a few pits, and each is missing a mounting stud.
I didn't get around to taking a pic. But can if you think you would still be interested.

If no one else is interested in them to put on their car, I may be interested for my emblem collection / display - mostly ones like this with pits or missing tabs/pins that can't be used as intended

... keep me in mind Dale :TU:

    Will do.
That's what I used them for. I had a shelf in the garage with Buick related models, emblems, etc. I displayed. But took all of it down a few years ago and packed it away when we thought we would be selling the house.

Dale, if you can, send me some photos (or post them here). I'm not worried about the mounting studs, but would like to see if they will work otherwise. bj@ziptrucklines.com

    Thanks!

    Here they are.
A good scrubbing would do them good.

Thanks, Dale. I'll pass on them. But it looks like you still have a buyer.

Still looking for a super clean pair (I'm so picky . . .)
