On my 1969 Lesabre I have the stock hubcaps but they click, have any of you guys had this problem? if so what did you do to fix them or is it a Buick/GM quality factor and something I will have to live with unless I get sport wheels.

    Thanks

Are the plastic centercaps loose? If so, you might have to take the hubcap off and bend the tangs or spring clip for it to fit tighter. A picture of the backside might help

What do the caps look like?

They are just the stock hubcaps, they have the plastic tri shield center buttons in them, Im pretty sure the center caps are loose I was looking for comfirmation or a tip on how to snug them up.

Snug the clips or use some clear silicone to hold them from rattling

back in the 80's we had alot of cars come in the shop with noise hubcaps.we would take duct tape and rapp it around the inside that contacts the rim.it worked good, but sometimes the tape would wash out.

Yep, it was a common thing ''back when''.... use the suggested solutions...

I had an annoying clicking with the factory hubcaps on my 69 Marauder. The problem was the valve stem contacting the hole. When I wrapped the stem in some plastic foam stuff, the sound went away. Apparently the valve stem moves as the tire rotates. Now I have mags, so the problem is no more.

Clear silicone is a good tip, I put 3-4 big globs on my trim rings before I put them back on. I then don't have to go chasing them down as they rattle lose over time without it.

Had this a lot in the '60s with full wheel covers. It was the "grippers" around the circumference of the cover, not the centers...centers were another problem (they rattled). The "fix" was to seat the outer lip of the cover against the rim all the way around with a rubber hammer, being careful not to overdo it and dent the covers...

Not to mention bending the "grippers" out a little bit so that they gripped better. I took the silicone glue to the cat emblems in the center as well. Then I just beat the crap outta it:laugh: putting it on the wheel with a rubber hammer.. I don't think I'll be getting them off any time soon..:Brow: Did the same with the spare.

Back in the day when we wanted to goof on a fellow mechanic, we would take off his hubcaps (when he wasn't looking) and put rocks or wheel weights into the hubcaps so they would rattle around.

Once in a while, one would come into the dealership that way, and when we popped the cover...it was a lug bolt...
