This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

What's the best way to ship a BBB crankshaft? I know the first answer will be "don't". Anyway, what's the least expensive, least likely to get damaged way to ship one of these big old lumps of steel?

    Stacey,

UPS works fine, in the right box.. I have shipped a number of them lately. I use the box that I get from the crank grinder, with packing under the crank.. it has handles built into it.

Just make sure you mark that it is "Heavy".

Another route would be to box it up in a rubbermaid type storage tote ( brand not important but type of plastic is ) of slightly oversize, put cardboard on top/bottom and sides and then drill and ziptie the lid too it. We used to ship ATV engines this way via UPS all the time. Never had a problem.

Our company occasionally buys from Standard Crankshaft out of Charlotte, NC. Real nice folks, they always shipped in a thick cardboard box with little boxes as support for the different angles. Never saw one damaged.
