Wow. Love it. Want it. Better check the lottery tickets in my wallet first.

I am curious. I think that this car is fantastic. Stock appearing & built to go fast.

Yet....other than my posts there is no discussion of this car. What's up with that? What am I missing?

Have you spoken with the owner? The car looks fantastic and I would be checking it out if I didn't already make a commitment for another car.

Bamboo Cream does not excite the masses. I've got an unfinished GS 455 convertible project that is bamboo cream and black from the factory. My dilemma is do I go back to that color scheme? If I ever intend to sell it, probably not. My other 3 cars are all as close to factory as I can reasonably get them. I know I'm keeping those 3 as long as feasibly possible.

I am curious how rare is the two tow treatment & is it factory or was a vinyl top removed & paint put in its' place? I would need to see a cowl tag to know myself (or Sloan documents of course).

The Bamboo Cream cars were very common when new. Not sold on the color today but would take this car in a heartbeat despite the Bamboo paint because I think it works so well with the black interior, painted top & steelies.

With the crappy Canadian dollar the buying power for us Canadians on US based cars is cost prohibitive.

Between the geography, the low Canadian dollar & the slow business in the oil patch I am not able to chase this car. Still looking but this one is above my budget. The right GS 455 will come along.

This car's been for sale for awhile, it's not the best written ad, the pics and the description aren't great. It always amazes me when somebody is selling a performance car...SS GTO GS 442, why they would not have a picture of the engine compartment. I mean...that's what makes it special, right? Seeing as the car is not cheap by a long shot, wouldn't you be curious if it has AC (still there or butchered?), PB, PS, posi, the right air cleaner, shroud, etc. under the hood? Who really needs to see a pic of the corner of the back seat???

Agreed. Seven exterior photos are too many. Three or four would suffice. With no engine photos, my interest would be slightly above non existent.

Agreed! And why do so many not include a picture of the cowl or fender tag, many want to decode want they can to help verify the cars options.

Bamboo Cream was the highest produced color. I would say most popular, but many here don't like it, and that's okay. More GS's were painted in this color than any other. personally, like the color and with matted with a black top and interior, looks sharp. With the brown interior and top, not so much. That make a big difference.

There were 999 Bamboo Cream cars making it the second most common color. 1284 Burnished saddle cars made making it the highest produced color. These numbers refer to all 1970 GS 455 cars produced. Are my numbers wrong or are you including GS 350 cars?

Assuming it's original (cowl tag would verify & would show 50-12 for the two tone Bamboo Cream/Regal Black) , that is the relatively rare D99 painted top. I believe only about 600 GS's came that was vs. about 14k with vinyl top.

Just think how many more of these cars would have survived had those #'s been reversed.

    Thanks Dano

Vinyl tops look good on some cars. The 70-72 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme model for example needs a vinyl top to my eyes. Much prefer the two tone in place of the vinyl for obvious reasons.

The Bamboo & Black 70 GS in this description is the perfect example of how two tone can make a car better.

As an example of a two tone option that does not work here is a friend's 1972 W-30. it just is not working because the W-30 stripe package should be the accent not the painted top. If it were a base 442 with thin stripes it would work better. it is not immediately obvious in the picture because it is a low res photo but the side stripes are white & the top is a pale cream color. Weird how some cars were ordered.

I was 1/2 right - 14k seemed high. Thanks for the correction.

I like the Bamboo Cream, just don't like the vinyl top on it.

Bamboo cream never bothered me - looked at buying one earlier this year that had been re-painted red & I would have eventually put it back. I like the black painted top on this one - different, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
