I`m going to repost this , maybe someone has an answer. The bell housing in my 72 350 four speed car is different than the book shows. Any thoughts on what it is and does anyone have a correct inspection cover?
This bolts up to a 350? Anyway I have a 350 housing with a smal crack at the bottom that doesn't affect the operation but could use to be tig welded. I could probably get that done locally if needed. I got your email and did not understand the problem until I saw what you had. Let me know if your intersted in the 350 bellhousing. I have some other attaching parts aslo
John on my 65 special project i used a V6 bellhousing and all the associated clutch linkage behind a 455 with no issues whatsoever. I even managed to fit a 12" clutch in the V6 bellhousing
John, I am interested in the correct bell housing. Give me a few shots of the damaged housing so I can make an educated guess on how the repair will look. I`ll expand my e-mail to you and explain my confusion on this matter to the readers of this post. I bought this car from a friend of mine in 1983 he bought it from his next door neighbor in 1981, nice ride for his first car, mine was a VW Bug. Any how I thought I was the first to change the clutch in the car and that bell housing has always been there minus the inspection cover. As I ponder over the mystery there was only one time that it spent several weeks in a shop for a broken axle, maybe the original was removed then??? never thought to check the transmission since its been in my garage for 20 plus years, I`m going to freak if the trans does not have my VIN on it! This weekend I`ll look.ray:
Sorry for the slow return here but I am so busy right now. Here is the bell I have and you saw the cover plate which is a perfect match for this Bell Like I said in the email this bell would be an easy repair the crack doesn't affect the operation but I would do it just for peace of mind. Let me know where it would be shipped to and I'll shoot you a price shipped.
