My prayers go out for you for you Edouard. I'm fairly new to the forum (July 2021).
I love this forum, everybody has been super good to help me with my Buick issues.

I'm a red head and very prone to getting melanomas. In the last 5 years, I've had so many melanoma surgeries I've loss count.
I have to get checked every 6 months for the rest of my life. Fortunately, none have spread. But it is scary, and I know how you feel.
    Keep the faith my friend.

It looks like the Doctors have a good grip on your medical issues. Regards, VET (Navy)

    Dear VET and James,

Thanks James for your continued prayers,

Thanks for your prayers as well VET. I hope all of your melanomas were spotted early. Have most of your surgeries been under local anesthetic? I have also had quite a few Mohs surgeries to remove mostly Basal Cell cancers. However, the melanoma that was found in 2021 on my left ear was also removed by a Mohs procedure. Honestly I don't know which I dislike more: local or general anesthesia.

    Let's hope for brighter times and no more melanomas . . . . .

All of mine were under local anesthetic. However, somebody in my Doctor's Dermatology Office dropped the ball
and forgot to call me after I had a biopsy.
It showed I had a spot of cancer forming. I needed to go back to the office for surgery to remove a Basal Cell cancer growth.
Six months later I get a letter regarding this matter, YOU need to come to our officer ASAP. Never once did they call me.
I was very upset to say the least.

The surgery turned out to be large at my elbow area. This was because they had to remove enough tissue In order to get a clear area
free of the cancer. NOW I have a 3-inch scar. At least I'm cancer free for now (for the time being).

When I was in the Navy, I received a serious sunburn (I was 19 at the time). It was so bad, I was treated and confined to a bed (a rack the Navy calls it)
for a week. I was also faced; possible court martial for destruction of military property (that property is me). Fortunately, I was young and dumb, so they let that slide.

Because I offend get basal cell cancer and melanomas, I have to go to my Dermatology office every 6 months for skin checkups.
Strange thing is, I'm 74 and cancer spots didn't start until was 63. I'm very happy I didn't get full blown cancer.
My wife has a cousin who always played golf without a hat. He got melanoma cancer so bad, he died of brain cancer. He was only 55.

So this type of cancer is very serious. Just so you know, I have been praying for you.
Once everything is cancer free with you. Please make sure you get regular skin checkups. Regards VET (Navy)

Will include you in my prayer tonight, again. You have to have the mindset in this type of situation. “Do whatever it takes)”

Thank you VET, Guy, and Peter for your prayers and kind thoughts,

Unfortunately, doctors offices are in general seriously overworked and you need to keep on top of them.

*Sigh*, I have one of those as well. I never did find out what sort of cancer they found on my right forearm, but I ended up with a 4-inch scar and the tendons passing in the area were irritated for 6-months. This was last autumn in between reconstructive surgeries on my nose after a large basal cell tumor was removed that took away the left nostril. I am concerned about the apparent disinterest that surgeons seem to have about the time needed to recover. They seem to think I can bounce back a lot faster than I really do.

There is some research that suggests bad sunburns that you get when young are particularly likely to produce melanoma. My ears might have vulnerable because of a 2 day camping trip in which I only wore a baseball cap. I got some bad sunburns all over the place but especially my ears. Nowadays, I only wear wide-brim hats!

Yes, I know melanoma is very serious. This last surgery included removing 3 lymph nodes in my neck to see if the melanoma had spread, so my doctors are being aggressive in treating it. I'm also on a 3-month skin check schedule. It was one of those routine skin checks that spotted this recurring melanoma that ended up triggering this aggressive surgery. There is some hope for some better cancer treatments, but at the moment all the doctors can do is cut it out and that is definitely no fun.

Let's all hope for a world that is free of all cancers - medical and otherwise . . . .

    Dear V-8 Buick community,

July has come and past and the melanoma surgeon was pleased with how my ear healed from that surgery. The time has come to finally repair the hernia that was diagnosed all the way back at the beginning of May. That surgery is scheduled at 7am tomorrow. The family health situation has further degraded so basically I had little choice but hire some home care giving services for all of this week. I've never had abdominal surgery before, but judging from the heavy-duty pain medications, it cannot be anything but a serious body-blow. Unfortunately, I haven't really recovered from the previous surgeries and I am already feeling exhausted. Definitely not the best situation to be in before a major surgery like this.

So, I would like to ask you-all to keep me in your thoughts and prayers,

    Thanks for your support!

Dear Harold, Ken, and V-8 Buick community,

Thanks everyone for your concern and prayers. Yesterday's surgery went off without a hitch and I was home by 10am or so. There was some discomfort yesterday, but that has already calmed down. The prescribed pain medication is giving me some trouble with lightheadedness. However, I'm feeling almost no pain, so side-effect seems like a small price to pay.

We are lucky to have a caregiver assigned to us this week who is a nice and capable woman. So we seem to be in as good a shape as could be expected given the situation. I'll be taking it easy until the first part of next week. We will have groceries delivered this week and will have meals delivered from local restaurants until at least Thursday.

That's the situation after 24 hours. Thanks again.
