Does anyone make a correct master cylinder for a '68 GS ( '68-'72 are the same I think?) with power drum brakes? It is different than a disc brake master cylinder. All of the repos that I have seen do not have the two bleeders on the side like my original. Or, should I just send mine out to be rebuilt? It leaks a little and looks like crap. Any suggestions on where to send it? Booster Dewey maybe? I am going to replace the power brake booster (my current one is painted black with a shade of rust) and I do not want to put an ugly, possibly leaking master cylinder back on new cad plated brake booster. :beer
I got mine for my 69 from Mark Reeves (stage-x) and it is an awesome set. You could email him and see if he has the Drum brake master.
Mike, Your master cylinder for drum brakes does not look like our Disc brake masters. It is smaller. Before Mark Reeves made the repros available, the correct master was hard to find. I obtained an original and sent it to Jim Weise. He had it stainless steel sleeved, and rebuilt it. It looked and worked great. PM Jim.
Buickbuddy (you need to post your first name ) that is the look that I am going for :TU: I love the look of the new master/booster under the hood.... Larry, you are correct, mine does not look like the photo that buickbuddy posted and all of the reproductions that I have found do not have the bleeder screws. I will have to contact JW to get a price on a rebuild over the winter since the GS won't be going anywhere over the winter months (I can't find any snowtires for it that will grip :3gears: p ). Any suggestions for a booster source? Parts Place, Hotrod heaven (all selling on e-bay). I know Mark R. is selling them also. :beer
I know....Was just pulling your chain... SO....ever drive a 69 GS before??? perhaps, red???
